• MEETING OF TIE COMMON COUNCIL SERVING AS A COMMITTEE
III CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC
LIGHTING AND POSE PLANT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND,
INDIANA, MONDAY, AUGUST 1ST, 1949.
The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a com-
mittee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting
and Power Plant, met in regular session in the office of the Board of
Public Works and Safety in the City Building in said City, Monday, August
1, 1949, at 7< 30 oaclock P.M. , C.S.T. , Councilman Chambers presiding with
the following members being present: Messrs. Baldwin, Eastman, Harris,
Law, Marino, Russell and Tracy. Councilman Myers being' absent. . The follow-
ing proceedings were 'had, to-wit:
'On motion duly made, seconded, and carried unanimously, the minutes of the
previous meeting were dispensed with.
A group of men interested in the operation of the playground at North 10th
and "J" Streets appeared before the committee in behalf of the Richmond.
Recreation Council and submitted the following request for the considera-
tion of this committee. It was requested that the Light Plant furnish the
labor and material necessary to install one light pole, one meter and one
flood light to serve said playground during the period that it was in opera-

'� tion. ' The Recreation Council to furnish the money for the current used.
Several of the Councilmen brought to the attention of this committee, the
good that this playground is doing for the young people in. this area. Council-
. man Law moved that the committee authorize Mr. Beck to install one light
pole and suitable wiring from the meter to a flood light and also one suitable
outlet; the expense of, said installation to be charged to the Plant. Council-
man Marino seconded this motion, and on voice vote, the motion was carried un-
animously, and so ordered.
Councilman Harris moved that this committee table the request of the State of
Indiana Weights and Measures Department asking the Plant to place an ad in
the convention issue of the Weights and Measures magazine; seconded by
Councilman Tracy and on voice vote, the motion was carried unanimously®
Councilman Eastman moved that Mr. Beck be authorized to allow payment from
Light Plant funds for expenses in the amount of $102.68 for two employees
from the Light Plant to accompany the body of Joe Notoro, an employee of
the Plant, in the capacity of a lineman, who was killed in an accident on
July 22, 1949, while in the line of duty, to Warren, Pa. Councilman Baldwin
seconded this motion, and on voice vote, the motion was carried unanimously.
The committee allowed claims in the amount of $306,412.77. Of this amount
there were two transfers as follows: Transfer of the sum of $50,000.00 from
Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash to General Fund Cash; Transfer of the sum of
$175,000.00 from the General Fund Cash to the Cash Reserve$Fund.
On motion duly made, seconded, and carried unanimously, the meeting adjourned.
