HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-16-1949 226 MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, IND. MONDAY, MAY 16, 1949. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Hall in said City, Monday, May 16,1949 at 7:30 . o'clock P.M. C.S.T. Councilman Chambers presiding with the following mem- bers being present: Messrs. Baldwin, Eastman, Harris, Law, Marino, Myers, Russell and Tracy. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: The minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mayor, Lester E. Meadows addressed. the committee in regards to the Light Plant contribution to Civil City for the year 1950. He asked that this committee give serious consideration and study and be prepared to make a report as required by law on the 31st day of July, 1949. Mr. Beck brought to the attention of the committee the need of a new Utility Billing Machine to replace the old one at the Light Plant office. No action was taken on tjis matter, but was referred back to Mr. Beck to make a further study and report back at a later date. Mr. Beck reported that the plant now has on hands an approximate 73 days supply of coal. This is about the capacity of the storage space. Councilman Harris moved that this committee give Mr. Beck, General Manager, authorization to enter into a contract with the Manufactures' Appraisal. Company to appraise the buildings Of the plant and office of the Light Plant at a cost of $1,200.00. Councilman Tracy seconded this motion and on voice vote the motion was unanimously adopted. The committee allowed claims in the amount of $69,341.79. Of this amount there•was a transfer of $17,942.26 from the Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash to the General Fund Cash. _ There being no further business presented to the meeting, on motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting thereupon adjourned. - 44_ Chairman Attest: City rk.
