HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-02-1949 225 MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIP?L ELECTRIC LIGHT- ING AND POWER PLANT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MONDAY, MAY 2, 1949. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the Office of the Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Building, Monady, May 2, 1949, at S:30 P.M. o'clock. Councilman Chambers presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Baldwin, F,astman, Harris, Law, Marino, Myers, Russell and Tracy. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: • 1111 The minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Councilman Tracy moved that Mr. Beck be given authority from this committee to enter into a contarct with Gibbs & Hill, Inc. , for tests to be made for the elimination of smoke from the Light Plant. Councilman Marino- seconded this motion and on voice vote- the motion was unanimously carried and adopted. Councilman Eastman moved- that the Number Three (3) Proposal recommending adption of a 40 hour working week schedule and the same take home pay for most of the employees, as shown in the form that Mr. Beck had sent to i11 Councilmen for their study, be approved. Councilman Harris seconded this motion and on voice vote the motion was adopted and so ordered. The date to be as og May 1, 194+9 - u Councilman Eastman moved that all employees vacation schedule for all em- - ployees having completed 15 or more years of service, be computed- on a tot- al of accumulative years of service prior to May 1, 1949; and that on and after- said date all employees service records be based on continuous employ- ment only. Councilman Harris seconded this motion and on voice vote the motion was unanimously adopted and so ordered. Councilman Harris moved that the order requiring employees of the Light Plant to be residents of Richmond, single women and married men, as adopted by Council on October 1S, 1937, be redinded as of this 2nd day of May, 1949. Councilman Tracy seconded this motion and on voice vote the motion was adopt- ed and so ordered. - The committee allowed claims in the sum of S77,030.25. Of this amount there was a transfer of $20,767.15 from the General Fund Cash to the Depreciation. Reserve Fund Cash.. The presiding officer appointed the schedule for each Councilman to serve as a committee to inspect the cliams for the Light Plant.
