MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNIFIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MONDAY, MARCH 21ST, 1949. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Building in said City, Monday, March 21st, 1949, at S:30 o'clock P.M. Councilman Chambers presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Baldwin, Eastman, Harris, Law, Marino, Myers, Russell and Tracy. The following business was had, to-wit: The minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mr. W. E. Ross, City Civil Engineer, appeared before the Committee, to ask that this committee give consideration to the request from the State of Indiana Geological Survey Department to install a Gaging Station in the East Fork of the Whitewater River near a point at the Disposal Plant of said City. The cost of this station would be $3,000.00. The State to�.; pay half, and the City the other half. The maintenance per year would be approximately $700.00. The State to pay half of this amount, and the City the other half. Mr. Ross said the Sanitary District would pay half of the maintenance cost to the City. The data received from this station would be valuable to the plant as well as the Disposal Plant and the State. On motion of Councilman Tracy that this be referred to Mr. Beck to investigate and his recommendation be received at the next meeting, seconded by Councilman Harris and carried unanimously by the committee and so ordered. The following bids were received for the necessary material and labor for the rebricking of #1 Boiler at the plant: McCabe Co. , Cinn. , Ohio $19,g23.00 Wm. G. Solt Co. ,Cinn. , Ohio 18,680.00 Wm. H. Hackney, Indpls. , Ind. 24,11 ,O0 Councilman Harris moved that the above bids be referred to Mr. Beck to tabulate and make his recommendation at the next meeting. This motion was seconded by Councilman Baldwin and was carried unanimously by the committee. Mr. Beck reported that the Plant has a very good supply of coal on hands at the Plant. Mr. Beck reported that the Gibbs & Hill Co. had started their survey at the Plant. A report of the reason for the power failure of equipment that serves the Crosley and Belden plants was given by Mr. Beck. Snow had drifted into the building that houses the switchgear and caused a short that burned this equipment. The switch- gear is now operating on a temporary basis until new equipment is received to make replacements. Mr. Beck told the members of the committee that a special meeting should be held to give the present petitions for street light installation consideration. He is willing to meet any given night to go over the entire city for locations that are in need of street lighting. No action was taken on when this meeting mild be called. C� 2C� d � Claims in the amount of $121,605.21 were allowed., Of this amount $6,064.22 was transferred from the Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash to the General Fund Cash. Councilman Marino moved to adjourn, seconded by Councilman Law, and carried unanimously. Chairman Attest: City Cl
