HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-07-1947 163 MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCILS} VING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHRGAE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a Committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant of said City , met in the office of the Mayor, Monday, July 7th, 194+7 at 8:30 o'clock P. M. ---- Messrs. Chambers, Harris, Homan, Kinder, Marino, Russell, & Tracy being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The reading of the minutes of the preceding meeting was dispensed with; • Mr. Stevens stated the bids received at the last regular meeting for eauippment at the Light Plant had been checked over as authorized and he would recommend that the low bid of Schutte- Koerting Co. of Philadelphia be accepted . Mr. Harris moved that the recommendation of Mr. Stevens be ratified and confirmed in the total amount of $23,706.00. With a second by ' Kinder the motion was unanimously approved. Mr. Stevens presented a report on generation for the month of June, 194+7 showing 8,885,000 k. w. in comparison with 7,518,000 k. w. for the same period in 1946 , an increase of 18.2 percent. The peak load for the month of June , 1947 was 21,000 k. w. in comparison with the same period for 1946 which was 19,600 or 7.1 percent, increase. P The total genra:tion for the first 6 months in 194+7 ending June 3o atts 53,411,000 in comparison with the year 194+6 during the same period which was )4+,65),000 k. w. showing an increase of 8,757,000 k. w. The report on the supply of coal shows a 6'2,1, days supply in storage with other in transient. Mr. Stevens stated some of the factories-were closing for a two weeks vacation which would cut down on the consumption of coal a little. Mr. Stevens reported the contract with the Standard Oil Company for Furnishing oil at the plant would expire July 24th , 1947 and he recommended that the contract be renewed with the same company for a period of one year from the said date. Mr. Kinder moved that the recommendation of Mr. Stevens be complied with. With a second by Homan the motion was approved.
