HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-16-1947 162 MEETING OF TIE COMMON COUNCIL ,SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE..OF THE OPERATION OF THE - MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND PONIER PLANT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA. The Common Council of the Cityof Richmond, Indiana, serving as a Committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant of said City , met in the office of the Mayor, Monday, June 16th, 1947 at 8:30 o 'clock P. M. --- Messrs. Brehm, Chambers, Ewbank, Harris, Homan, Kinder, Marino, Russell & Tracy being present the following prroceedinds were had to-wit; The reading of the minutes of the preceding meeting was dispensed with. On a motion by Homan second by Chambers the Board unanimously approvedIII the transfer of $1009000.00 from the General Fund of the Municipal Light Plant to the General Fund Cash Reserve. Mr. Stated June 16th, 1947 was the date designated by the Committee for the receiving,of bids for equippment at the Light Plant , the bids being as follows;ows; SCHUTTE-KOERTING, CO. Philadelphia, Pa. 2 -- Feed Water Heaters---- , $8,608.50 1 Steel Shell Evaporator Feed Water Condenser 15,097.50 Total $ 23,76 .00 , FOSTER WHEELER CO. ' Feed Water Heater $3,850.00 5,900.00 4,700.00 1 Steel Shell Feed Water Evaporator condenser 11,200.00 Total 25,650.00 Mr. Homan moved the bids be referred to Mr. Stevens for tabulation and recommendation. With a second by Kinder the motion was approved. Mr. Stevens reported the Coal supply was sufficient to-last about five weeks and was getting in as much supply of Eastern Coal as possible for storage. The Committee discussed the matter of wages paid for common labor at the plant also if temporary common labor were eligible for a vacation. Mr. Stevens explained that the regular common labor employees were working on a less scale of wages than the temporary common labor were and did not come under the same regulation. Mr. Harris moved that Mr. Stevens be authorized to handle the situation as for the best interest of the-Plant4 With a second by ,Kinder the motion was ap7roved.
