HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-07-1947 157 MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING & P0W..R PLANT . OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a Committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant of the said City,; met in'the-office of the Mayor Monday, April 7th, 19147 at 8;30 o'clock P. M. --- Messrs. Brehm, Chambers, Ewbank, Harris, Homan, Kinder, Marino, Russell & Tracy being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with. Mr. Stevens presented. a report on generation showing '._9',.036,000 k. w. for the month of March 19147 in comparison with 7,1429.000 k. w. over the same period for 19146 which was an increase of 21.6 percent. The peak load for the Month of March 19147 was 19,800 k. w. in comparison with 16,1400 k. w. over the same period of last year showing an increase of 13,1400 k. w. or 20.7 percent . The first three months of 19147 shows a total of 26,817,000 k. w. in comparison with the sme period of 19146 which was 22,584,000 an increase of 18.7. The peak during the first three months for 19147 was 21,100 k. w. in-•comparison 1-0 with the peak load for same period for 1946 which was 18,000 k. w. an increase of 3,100 k. w. Mr. Stevens reporting on the Coal situation stated some of the mines had been certified as safe but the miners were not working but a sufficient supply was in stock for a reasonable time. The Committee discussed the matter of the lighting situation on the West side in Hillcrest Addition also in Peacock Terrace Addition the latter being delayed since 19141 and Mr. Stevens stated an effort would be made to begin the installation of lights in various locations , he also stated they were going to try out a new standard about 25 feet high in the near future and the people could decide which they would desire. out Mr. Stevens also pointed any installation of lights would first have to be recommended by the Board of Public Works and Safety, before any action would be taken to install the same.
