HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-17-1947 154 MEETING OF TiH COMMON COUNCIL SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGIiTING & POWER PLANT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a comm44t.ee committee in charge ,of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant of said City , met in the office of the Mayor Monday , February 17th, 1947 at 8:30 o'clock P. M. ---- Messrs. Brehm, Chambers, Ewbank, Harris, Homan, Kinder, Marino, Russell & Tracy being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The reading of the minutes of the preceding meeting was dispensed with. 11/ On the recommendation of Mr. Stevens the Committee unanimously approved the renewal of a contract with thw Westinghouse Electrical Supply Co. of Indianapolis for furnishing transformers for the Light Plant for a period of One Year beginning January 3rd, 1947. Mr. Stevens discussed with the Committee the matter of extending the contract with the Indiana- Michigan Transmission Co. for a period of one year for furnishing standby power service. Mr. Stevens stated the now existing contract was for a Period of five years with an agreement whereby the company should be notified two years previous to the termination of the contract if any intent was anticipated to cancel or renew the same. Mr. Stevens recommended the contract for standby service be renewed for a period of one year- with the said Company , stating the plant would be in better condition and they would know better how to negotiate for standby service if the contract iS-extended for a period of one year. Mr. Kinder moved that the recommendation of Mr. Stevens be complied with and that proper notice be given the Indiana-Michigan Transmission Co. of the desire to extend their contract for standby service for a period of one year, and that Mr. Stevens be authorized to proceed with the same. With a second by Mr. Harris the motion was unanimously approved. After allowing claims in the amount of 043,426.57i on proper motion the meeting adjournedo President Attest City Clerk .
