MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL SERVING AS A
COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION, OP THE
MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING & POWER PLANT
OF THE CITY OF RICHhMONTD, INDIANA.
The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a Comm-
ittee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Elecrtic Lighting &
Power Plant of said City met in the office of the Board of Works, Monday, '
August 5th, 1946 at g:30 P. M. -- Messrs. Brehm, Chambers, EVbank, Homan,
Kinder , Marino, Russell & Tracy being present the following proceedings
were had to-wit;
The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with. ;
The report on Gross Generationfor the month of July. was 7,994,000 KWH
an increase of 532,000 KWH. or 7.1% over the same period of 1945.
The report- on the peak load during the month of July, 1946 was 19,200 KWK
500 KW or 2.7% over the same period for 1945.
Acting on the authority given Mr. Stevens at the meeting of July 23, 1946
he stated he had placed contracts with the Thermix Engineering Company , Prat
Daniel Agents , for induced draft fan with drive and stack according to their
bid of $16, 292,00 base plus addition for 1/4" instead of 3/16" metal in, top
of diffuser - $400.00. Minus omission for motor controls which we prefer to
eratel purchase se�� p y $842.00 making a net contract of $15,850.00m This was 'the
only bid received on equipment on July 23 and met the specifications. The,
,� contract , of course , carries an escalator clause which may effect the price
at time of delivery.
Mr. Stevens stated he had contactee: B; JF-. Sturtevant Company regarding
material advertised and they were unable to quote on anything except the
forced draft and over fire air fans without any motor or turbine drives or
couplings , and this could not be considered.
Mr. Stevens stated he had also contacted the Clarage Fan Company and they
gave a quotation on the induced draft fan with drives and stack at $17,140,00
base . Forced draft Fan with drives $4,212.00 base. Over-Fire air fan with
drive $425.00 base.
The Thermix Engineering Company's bid having been lower and satisfactory
the bid was accepted for the induced draftvfan and stack. Therefore an order
was placed with the Clarage Fan Company for equipment as follows;
Forced Draft Fan & drivers $ 4,212.00 plus extras
Inlet Screens 20.00
Sub Base 2 00
Total $ 4,489.00
Also Over Fire Fan with drive 425.00 Plus extra
Flanged outlet 20.00
Inlet Screen 6.00
Blast Gate on Inlet 15.00
Manually operated outlet damper 34.00
Total $ 500.00
Mr. Stevens reported an agreement had been reached with the Carpenters! &
Joiner's Union whereby their wages would be increased to $1.50 per hour
they working under the juerisdiction of Local No. 912.
Mr. Stevens stated he had some communication from an Insurance Co. in regard
to added insurance and the Committee recommended that the Insurance representa-
tives appear at the f.lst regular meeting in September.
After allowing claims in the amount of $54,160.00 on proper motion the
meeting adjourned. (�
