HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-23-1946 140 MEETING OF TIE COMMON COUNCIL SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF TNH, OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ETNCTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT OP THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a Committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant of said City met in the office at the -Light Plaaat'® ; Tuesday, July 23rd, at 2:00 o'clock P. M. in "Special" Session , with the following members of the Committee present and other representatives Messrs. Homan, Chambers, Tracy, Kinder, Ewbank, Russell, -Committee; • With John W. Mueller , Consulting Engineer, Earl Mutchner Chief Engineer, Mr. Conlan representing F. A. Wilhelm, Mr. Fred Elliman representing Detrick Company and W. R. Stevens General. Manager. The_;meeting was held for the purpose of opening bids on steel stack, induced draft fan , forced draft fan and over fire air fan. Also fir the Purpose of awarding contract for boiler setting on which bids had been opened or July 15th, 1946. Only One bid was received on the fan and the stack equippment, this being from Prat-Daniel Corporation by Thermix Engineering Company, agent • with a. combined bid on stack and induced draft fan only at a base price of $16,292.00. On a motion by Tracy , Second by Kinder the bid was referred to Mr, Stevens , General Manager , for analysis© After considerable discussion regarding the other items advertised it was decided that underpresent business conditions it is difficult to interest manufactures in bidding:-and by consent W: Ro. Stevens,General Manager was given the authority to purchase the material wherever available and from good responsible manufacturers , orders to be placed as quickly as possible. ' A report on the boiler setting bids was presented by John W. Mueller, Earl Mutchner and- W. R. Stevens, all recommending the acceptance of the low bid of F. A. Wilhelm in the amount of $26,20g.00. A motion by Tracy and second by Russell to accept the above recommends tion was carried unanimously.
