HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-07-1946 MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL SERVING AS'A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE. OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING & POWER PLANT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIANA. The 0ommonCouneii of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a Committee in charge of the operation, of the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant of said City met in the office of the Board of Works Monday, January 7th, 1946, at g:30 o'clock P. M. --Brehm, Cartwright, Chambers, Embank, Homan, Kinder, Marino, Russell & Tracy being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with. The Committee discussed the matter of the purchase of floodlights for the Hard Ball Park with a representative of the General Electric Co. Mr. Penn Rutherford who stated he could furnish the necessary lighting of the type uses at the Yankee Stadium at New York City for a total estimate of around $1L,000.0M to_=$20T0001-00 this estamate including approximately eighty percent of the material. Mr. Rutherford stated he could not give an absolute promise of delivery in time for the open season but was of the opinion delivery could be made unless delayed by strikes or otherwise. After further discussion Mr. Tracy moved that the floodlights and ' 0 necessary material for the installation of the same be ,purchased from the General Electric Company. With a second by•Brehm the motion was approved. Mr. Stevens presented.a report on the Generation for the month of December 1945, production of 7,925,000 k. w. in comparison with the same period for December 1944 which was g,2g1,000 k. w. a decrease of 14.3 percent. 1945, The report on the peak load for December was 17,500 k. w. which showed a decrease of 2.g percent over the same period of the year 1944+ which was 18,000 k. w. The annual report on generation showed 93,5g3,000 k. w. for .the year 19}14 in comparison with the total report for 1945, which showed a slight decrease of 1.8 percent or 91,896,000 k. w. Mr Stevens minted out. that even if the industrial consumption of power had fallen of,the individual consumption was greater,sufficient to keep the revenue about the same.
