MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL SERVING AS A
COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE .DPERATION_ OF THE
MU7ICIPAL ELECTRIC ,-LIGHTING & PO.WM PLANT •
- OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANn.. .
THe Common Council of the City of. Richmond, Indiana, serving as a
Committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting
• and Power Plant of said City met in the office of the Board of Works,
Monday, July 2nd, 1945 at g:30 o'clock P. M. -- Messrs. Brehm, Cartwright,
Ewbank, Hibberd, Homan, Kinder, Marino, Russell & Tracy being present the
following proceedings were had to-wit: •
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Stevens.reported one section of the cooling tower at the Plant
would soon be in operation. •
The report on generation showed a total production of 7,783,000 k. w.
for the month of June 1945 , against 7,610.00dk. w. for the same period.
in- 19)4-4, showing an increase of ,2.3 percent
The peak load. for the month of June was 17,300 k. w. an .increase of .
3 percent above the' 'same period of last year which was 16,g00 k. w.
Mr. Stevens discussed with' the Committee the matter of. verious complaints
of citizens living on the West Side of the City in regard to the distruction
• of trees and shtubbery_- seemingly by gas fumes comming from the Light Plant
stating he had contacted Mr. McIntire and Mr. Milligan on the matter and they
had made an investigation and the exact cause had not been determined as -
yet as various trees and shrubs had been effected by something while others
nearby were not affected at all,
Mr Stevens also stated he had Max Tuttle a Combustion Engineer to make
an investigation in regard to gasses created in the consumption of coal at
the Light Plant and what-effect it might have on the shrubbery near by and
nothing had been determined as yet.
Councilman Hibberd suggested that Mr. . Stevens make an investigation
in-to the,matter of.how much fundscould be taken out of the Light Plant
account for the purpose of reducing taxes and make such, report at the next
regular meeting of Council,,
After allow claims in the a.mounttof $ 39,46g.gg on proper motion
the Committee adjourned.
