OP THE COMMON COUNCIL ,SERVING AS A COMMITTFY, IN CHARGE OP THE OPERATION OP THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING & POWER PLANT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a Committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant of said City met in the office of the Board of Works .!onday ,June lgth. .1945, at g:30 o'clock P. M. -- Messrs. Brehm, Cartwright, Ewbank, HotanofKiidern,Marino, Russell & Tracy being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; • The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. A petition was presented to the Committee inF chaxge:-of'-the eneration. of the T_4 ght Plant in protest to the results of the gasses supposed-to be. • commiiig' from- the consumption of coal at the Light Plant which was killing flowers and sr",hrubs in the West Part of the City also disturbing the sleep of some of the citizens in that area, the petition was signed by forty interested. citizens. After some discussion on the matter Mr. Kinder moved that the matter. be • . referred to Mr. Stevens for investigation. kith a second by Homan the - motion was unanimously approved. - �-i Mr. Stevens reported the contract for furnishing Oil at- the plant- with the Standard Oil Co. would expire July 23_, ,1945, and he would re commend that the contract be renewed for a period of one year. Mr.Homan moved that the recommendation of Mr. Stevens be complied withi and with a second by Russell the motion was unanimously approved. The matter of installing a Radio Tower at&-the Plant and receiving sets in five mobile units to be used for emergency us in case of storms. & etc. was discussed by Mr. Stevens with the Committee, and the same was referred to 'the Utility Committee of the Common Council for re- commendation and further consideration. ' IIIMr. Stevens reported one-half of a section of the cooling tower at the Light Plant was almost complete except some pipe. - The Committee discussed the matter of the di-spositlentef the U. S. certificates as to their safety in the Federal Bank at Chicago and the following motion was presented by Mr. Kinder thf,.t none of the recently purchased- United States 7/ percent 6ertificates of Indebtedness of the face value of $750,000.00 purchased by the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant of Richmond:, Indiana, be offered for re e4tion unless favored • by a majority vote of the Common Council of the City "of Richmond sitting • as Board of Directors of said Municipal Electric Lighting and Power. Plant and that a copy of this motion as carried be forwarded to the Federal Reserve Bank or Governmental Agency now holding said Bonds for safekeeping. Further that when the said motion for redemption is made and passed that a copy of said Motion certified by the City Clerk of Richmond, Indiana, shall suffice as authority for said Federal Agency along with the signature of the proper official heretofore designated as having authority to recedpt for or or authorize redemption.
