MEETING OP THE COMI4tO COUNCIL,SF .VINE AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION- OF TNT' MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING & PO ER PLANT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA. • The Common 'Council, of thr City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a Committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant of said City met in the office of the Board of Works Monday , May 21st, 1945, at 8:30 o'clock P.' M. - Messrs. Cartwright, Ewbank, Hibberd, Homan, Marino, Russell, &. Tracy. being present the - following proceedings were.had to-wit; The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. 'Mr. Stevens reported he had contacted the War Production Board in the matter of their approval for the boiler & turbin and they recomm- ended that the boiler & turbin be delivered in about two years which he,Mr. Stevens , would not agree to and after V-2 day the W P B was contacted twice on the following Monday , May loth, 1945 on the -matter • and after 6:00 :o!ciook P.. M. of the same date •they called Mr. Stevens and stated the Board had approved the application of the local Plant for the boiler & turbin with no time limit and the same would follow in the mail. The General Electric Company was then contacted in regard to the turbin and they Pgreed. to a 71 percent'&iscount on the original price, a, previous offer-which would be $24,060.00 from the original price of -$320,800.00 • The turbin is to be of the latest design and is scheduled for delivery in May or June of 1946. • The Ingersol-Rand Co. was then contacted in regard -to the condenser contact and they stated their cost had increased for the mQnufactuing of the same between $500.00 & $1,000.00 and they could not approvedthe contract without the added cost but after a discussion on the fitter - they agreed to furnish the condensed at the original price of $56,800,00 with delivery in 10 months or less. Mr. Stevens stated work on boiler specifications would be started in the near future and advertisement for bids will be ready in about two months.
