HomeMy Public PortalAbout020-2023 - Grant - US Department of Energy - replace some streetlighting COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA ORDINANCE NO. 20-2023 AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MFFTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM TIlE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY WHEREAS, in accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may execute any documents necessary to receive money from the state or federal government or any other source, and said documents arc prepared and executed by the City executive administration, provided that the Common Council of the City of Richmond as the legislative body of the City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any monies received in accordance with IC 36-4-6-18; and WHEREAS, The United States Department of Energy through its Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program has federal grant funding available as authorized by Title .V and Subtitle E of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2008 (PL, 110-140) signed into law on December 19, 2007; and WHEREAS., All awards made under the EECBG Program shall comply with applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, 2 CFR Part 200 as amended by 2 CFR Part 910 and Section 40552 of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (PL 117-58); and WHEREAS, The City of Richmond desires to submit a grant application for help with the expenses of replacing current street lighting with energy efficient lighting technologies, including light emitting diodes and any other technology of equal or greater energy efficiency; and WHEREAS, No local match is required for this grant. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows: The City of Richmond, in accordance with the above-recitals and in accordance with IC 36-1-4-10, has submitted or will submit a grant application to the United States Department of Energy to assist with the expenses of replacing current street lighting with energy efficient lighting technologies, including light emitting diodes and any other technology of equal or greater energy. Page I of 2 2. The City of Richmond is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to Seventy-six Thousand Three I lundred Thirty Dollars and Zero Cents ($76,330.00). 3.
