HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-21-1944 77 MEETING OF THE.COMMON .COUNCIL SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IF CHARGE OF THE.OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIL LIGHTING AND_PO WER PLANT • OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIANA. The Common- Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a Committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting - & Power Plant of the said City , met in the office of the Board of Works Monday, February 21, 1944; at 8:30 oeclock P. M: -- Messrs Brehm, Cartwright . Hibberd, Homan, Kinder, Marino, Russell, Tracy & Wilkins being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The matter of the contribution in the amount of Electric Current to Reid Memorial Hospital was discussed by various members of the Committee and Mr. Stevens and Mr. Brehm moved that the usual amount of Electeric Current in the sum of $3,600.00 be contributed to Reid Memorial Hospital from the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant. With a second by Hibberd the motion was unanimously approved. Mr. Stevens presented a report on the previous shutdown whiboccured on Saturday February 18th, 1944 , for a short period, stating the. trouble was located in a meter which was being checked at the time. Mr. Stevens reported there was.some material being made available by the WPB which would make it possible to make some added repairs and add some more equippment and he expected to make application for the samw. The matter of enlarging the cooling system was also discussed by the Committee. Attention was called also that the contract for the 15000 K. W. turbin and condenser was still on file and the Government Agencies in charge were releasing some of such material which had been frozen , Mr. Stevens stated the contract was made in 1940 suggesting that if the plant expansion program was to be carried out as was anticipaed the Company holding such contract should be notified that the contract for the turbin and condenser was still considered in effect. The Committee decided to consider the • matter- further and report at a later date. • - After 'allowing claims in the amount of $56,034.67 on proper motion the Committee adjourned.
