THE' COMMON COUNCIL SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHAP.GE.OF THE OPERATION OF • THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING & PO ER PLANT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INaDIANA. The Common Council of the City ^t' Richmond. Indiana, serving as a Committee in charge of the operation• of- the' Municjpalu�-"F"►�:eotric:Lighting and, Power Plant of the said City, met in the office of the Board of Works, Monday , July 1.9th. 1943, at g°30 o'clock P. M. Messrs. Cartwright, Hibberd., Homan, Kinder, Marino, Russell, Tracy and Wilkins being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; 111 The .minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. Mr. Stevens reported an accident had happened to two of the employees on the line Department ,by a flash at the transformer station located in Happy Holl.ow,Mr. Yount being more seriously burned than 'the other employee and Mr. Yount would be in the hospital for a few more days if no other trouble developed. The matter of extension of, nay for employees where accidents occur was discussed and the same was referred. to City Attorney Keisker, for a report: o.n the legality:.of'su:ch proceedare. The matter of the extension of lines for Street Lights requested by citizens located in various parts of the City was discussed with Mr. Stevens who stated according to Federal Ruling on such extensions none could be allowed except where the contrail of traffic was involved or Street lighting was deemed necessary for public safety usualy near a plant where material for war was involved. The following Resolution was presented by Councilman Hibberd; • That until further notice from Council , the present policy of the plant to neither hire nor permit to remain in the .employment of the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant any married women, be suspended and that the Superintendent immediatelyb permittedto rehire any married women formerly in the employment of the plant should he so desire. Mr. Hibberd moved that this resolution be adopted and with a second by Homan the motion was approved.. Mr. Wilkins voting No. Mr. ,. Stevens reported the inner-connection system was progressing in a satisfactory manner. After allowing claims in the amount of $ 43,75g.11 on proper motion the Committee adjourned.
