RE: Ordinance 22-2023
Dear Council Members,
This ordinance is a request by the Department of Infrastructure and Development to amend the Unified
Development Ordinance. Richmond's current Unified Development Ordinance was established by Ordinance
18-2010 and has since been amended by Ordinances 79-2015 and 36-2020.
Over the past two years, former City Planner and Director of Infrastructure and Development, Ian Vanness,
documented several areas of the ordinance that could be adjusted to better fit the needs of the community for
current and future development, and the proposed changes are the results of his efforts.
This ordinance is respectfully requested to be referred to the Richmond Advisory Plan Commission for
public hearing at its meeting on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.
