A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN THE REVISED LOS ANGELES
COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT CONTRACT CITY LAW ENFORCEMENT
SERVICES DEPLOYMENT SURVEY (FORM SH -AD 575) TO REFLECT INCREASE
IN LIABILITY SURCHARGE RATE FOR SHERIFF SERVICES
WHEREAS, per the June 30, 2013 actuarial study of the Liability Trust Fund, the
Liability Trust Fund is projected to fall significantly below the 75% confidence level by
the next actuarial report; and
WHEREAS, it is projected that the funding needs for Fiscal Year 2014 -2015 will
not be met at the current rate of 4 %, and a shortfall is projected by"June 30, 2015; and
WHEREAS, it is projected that the shortfall would continue to increase in
succeeding years faster than the automatic triggers would increase the rate; and
WHEREAS, effective January 1, 2015, there will be a 1% increase in the liability
surcharge rate for Los Angeles County Sheriff services; and
WHEREAS, the rate will increase to 5% from the current 4% rate.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to sign the
Revised Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Contract City Law Enforcement
Services Deployment Survey (Form SH -AD 575) to reflect the increase in the liability
surcharge rate for sheriff services.
Section 2. That the City Council authorizes the City Manager or designee to
adjust the budget and appropriate the funds as follows:
$42,000 from General Fund Professional /Contractual
Reserves to Services Line Item
(1011.40.215.62015)
Section 3. This Resolution shall go into effect immediately upon its adoption.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this Resolution.
