A petition from Mrs J.D.Carbo requesting permission operate the soft drink stand on Sixteenth street formerly operated by Tffts.T.D. Harris, under the liscense granted Mrs.Harris,for the remaindex.of the fiscal year,with approval of Mrs Harris was ;ranted. The neti•tion_of E.J.Oliver and associates requesting .t1 eTown::-to tG.ks;Oter and maintain a 20 feet strip of land between lots 104 and 105 Ward Five akain came up - - The streets and Lanes Committee to whom the matter wasrreferred reported that the cottage of Mr. Oliver was located on part of the land that it was intended to use as a street. The Mayor informed Council that it would probably be necessary to borrow money from one of the local banks to meet casual d.eficiaecies Lr.Horovitz made a motion that the mayor be empowered to neg ;tiate and borrow tbw necessary monies that are needed to meet said casual deficiency -- seconded by Mr. Cann,and the motion passed unanameusly. The re!ular meeting of Council was held to -day at 4 :00 p.m.in Savannah, office and was attended by Mayor Gamble,who presided,and Councilmen Logan,I-Iorovitz and. Cann. • The co -xnittee appinted to investigate the matter regarding the opening and paving the Strand from Sixteenth to Seventtenth streets as petitioned by Mr. l•.P.Solm,reported that the s_ -estion was a ood one,but Council decided thatthe work could not- be'undertaken at this time,though the matter would be kept in mind. Council having received - a report of the death of- Mr.;Albert Wylly, on motion of Er. Horovitz, seconded by 1± Logan, the following resolution was passed; THOMAS GAMBLE. MAYOR HENRY M. BUCKLEY. WlitRAS,death has removed Honorable Albert Wyily,Vice- Chairman of the Board of County Commissioers of Chatham County,and for many years a ceaseless worket of that board for the developement of the County, and especially an out - standing figure in the great work of drainage which has so enhanced the health,prosperity and progress of the County,and� WHEREAS, in common with his other public activities,Mr. Wylly had always shown a deep interest in the growth and welfare of the 107 Town and Isla'n'd of Tybee,and had practically evidenced his interest in it by personal attention and supervision of drainage work calculat:d to Promote sanitary conditions,and thereby enhance the Islands value as a resort of the people of Savannah and of a large adjacent territory, TBEI EFORE,B1, IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Aldermen of the Town of Tyybee,in Coun : :ilassembled,oficiaily and personally hereby express their deep sense of the loss the people and property owners of Tybee, in common, with all others of ,Chatham County,ha've sustained in the death of;Mr. Viylly,and that a page of the Town Miniutes be set aside on which shall be inscribed this appreciation of his services. B. ;IT FURTHER RESOLVED that official copies of these pro- ceedings be sc'it to the family of the late Judge Wylly and to the Board of County Commissioner•.. 108 ,J$ The death of Mr. Ambrose Ehrlichpa former Mayor of ybee was also reported and-upon.on mclion of Mr. Horovitzlseconded by Mr.Logan the follotring was passed; RESOLUTION. WHEREAS,death has removed a former Mayor of the Town of TybeesAMbrose Ehrlich who during-many years as a resident and an Official of the Town evidenced at a 1 times an abiding and intense interest in the gorwth and welfare of Tybee and during hie adminis- tration as Mayor was an active and progressive factOr in the up- building'of that resort,working to stimulate a broader knowledge resort,thereby increasing the advance its pop4aritytand to of its merits and attractions as a number of visitoes and residents. • THEREFOR,BE TT R4SOLVED by the Mayor and. Aldermen of the Town of Tybee inCouncil assedpied4that this body hereby expresses its appreciation,og*the attachment to and services for Tybee which marked the life of Ambrose Ehrlich,and that thi0-a 1ion be inscribed on a page of the Minutes of the Town as a memorial to-himpand an official copy be sent to his family.
