HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-08-2023 THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICH:MOND, 1NDIANA, JUNE 8, 2023 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., in the Council Chambers in the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. CALL TO ORDER President Robinson called the meeting to order and the following business was conducted: ROLL CALL Board members present were: Vicki Robinson, Emily Palmer and Matt Evans. Also in attendance were Kim Vessels, Assistant City Attorney; Monica Burns, Deputy City Clerk; Cedric James, Code Enforcement; Assistant Fire Chief Joe Buckler; Fire Chief Tim Brown; Derek Hill, Director of Code Enforcement; and Media. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Ms. Palmer moved to approve the minutes of June 1, 2023, supported by Mr. Evans. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Mr. Evans moved to approve the Claims for Payment for June 9, 2023 in the amount of Eight Hundred Eight Thou.snd Eight Hundred Thirteen Dollars and seventy two cents ($808,813.72), supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. BID OPENINGS —None BID AWARDS • B & .B CONSTRUCTION OF RICHMOND The demolition of a vacant house at 119 North 17th Street. Not to exceed $10,000.00 Mr. Evans moved to approve, supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • MIKESELL EXCAVATING, INC. The demolition of a dilapidated garage at 109 Lincoln Street. Not to exceed $3,100.00 Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Mr. Evans. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • B & B CONSTRUCTION OF RICHMOND The demolition of a dilapidated garage at 221 Lincoln Street Not to exceed $3,000.00 Mr. Evans moved to approve, supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. CONTRACTS • CONTRACT NO. 1.04-2023 —LASERLINE The City hereby retains Contractor to provide special on-site application services, specifically the application of rust protective Krown coating upon all Fire Department vehicles and apparatus, EMS vehicles and apparatus, and administrative staff vehicles for the Fire Department. Not to exceed $7,750.00 Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Mr. Evans. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • CONTRACT NO. 105-2023 —THOR CONSTRUCTION COM,PANY Board of Works Minutes June 8, 2023 The City retains Contractor to perform services in connection with the renovation of Fire Station No. 5 in accordance with the plans and specifications prepared by Maze Design, which services shall be performed for the Fire Department and which services shall include the new kitchen casework alternate bid work also submitted. Not to exceed $324,000.00 Mr. Evans moved to approve, supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • CONTRACT NO. 1.1.0-2023 — SMARRELLI CONTRACTORS, INC The City retains Contractor to furnish and install a new entrance door at Fire Station No. 3 for the Fire Department. The project includes removal of the currently-existing door, and materials and labor for the priming and painting of the new door being furnished, as well as the reuse and installation of the existing lockset on the new door. Not to exceed $3,132.00 Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Mr. Evans. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion. carried. • CONTRACT NO. 111-2023 —CUMMINS ELECTRIC, INC The Parties understand, acknowledge, and agree that the City is in the process of making a special procurement for the rental or lease of a baby box safety device, from a vendor named Safe Haven Baby Boxes, Inc., for Fire Station No. 1 for the Fire Department. The Parties also understand, acknowledge, and agree that said vendor is, or will be, contractually obligated to provide consultation, oversight, and inspection and maintenance of the same with the expectation that the safety device will be installed by a third-party contractor as further described herein. The City retai s Contractor to perform the above-described third-party installation services of the 120v receptacle for the baby box safety device at Fire Station No. 1 for the Fire Department of the City as further described in Contractor's quote under the general supervision and oversight of the above-described vendor due to vendor's expertise in the special safety, educational, and maintenance aspects of the safety device which will be formally named the "Safe Haven.Baby Box" upon and after installment of the same. Not to exceed$1,675.00. Mr. Evans moved to approve supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva.voce, the motion. carried. CHANGE ORDERS - None A.DDENDUMS - None RESOLUTIONS - None Board of Works Minutes June 8, 2023 PETITIONS - None MISCELLANEOUS • ESTABLISHMENT OF A NEW HIRING LIST FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT This list of candidates will be effective from May 30, 2023 until exhausted Samuel Weller Benjamin Willey Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Mr. Evans. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. THERE WILL BE NO BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MEETING JUNE 22, 2023 ADJOURNMENT After a motion was duly made, the meeting was adjourned.
