The Wellsburg Town Council met in regular session on December
1, 1969, with Mayor Riekena presiding and all councilmen
in attend-
ance. Minutes of the November meeting were accepted
as read on a
motion made by Eckhoff and seconded by Claassen.
Motion carried.
On a motion by Eckhoff, seconded by Claassen,
the treasurer's
report was accepted as read. Motion carried.
The following bills were allowed for payment

Lawrence Busman, fire chief, appeared before the council and
requested the purchase of two C/B radios to be used in the fire
trucks. After due consideration, on a motion by Van Deest, secon-
ded by Huisman, it was moved to purchase the same at a cost of

�259.40 from Forbes C/B Sales. Motion carried.
On a motion by Claassen which was seconded by �iuisman, the 1970
street budget was approved as presented. The clerk was directed to
forward a copy of the same to the State ��ighway Commission.
On a motion by Van Deest, seconded by Huisman, a resolution
to vacate the alley in the center of Hiock 11 of the original plat
of the Town of �Jellsburg, Grundy County, Iowa, and extending from
the east boundary of Madison Street to the west ffoundary of Jeffer-
son Street.. was adopted. Motion carried.
Freese made a mo�ion, seconded by Eckhoff, to suspend the rules
and have the third and final reading of the ordinance to vacate and
sell the alley in the center of Block 11 of the original plat of the
Town of Wellsburg. Motion carried.
On a motion by Van Deest, seconded by Cla�ssen, Ordinance 69-1
'' vacating and selling the alley in the center of Block 11 in the
original plat in the Town of Wellsburg was approved. Motion carried.
Eckhoff made a motion for adjournment. The motion was seconded
by Huisman. Motion carried.

Mayor Clerk
The Wellsburg Town Counea.l met in special session on December
17, 1969, with Mayor Riekena presiding. Councilmen Freese, Huis-
man, and Eckhoff were in attendance.
Me�bers representing the Wellsburg Study Club met with the
council to discuss the numbering of houses in the Town of Wells-
burg.
Motion by Freese, seconded by Huisman, to accept the resolution
of the conveyance of a tract of land owned by Mayo Tjaden and
others. Motion carried.
On a motion by Eckhoff, seconded by Huisman, it was moved to
insert the la$t paragraph of the resolution, which reads as follows:
"Now, therefore, be it resolved that we, the Town Council of the
Town of Wellsburg, Iowa, in a regular meeting duly called and con-
vened do hereby waive the requirements set forth in Section.54.3
of the Municipal Code of the Twon of Wellsburg, Iowa, and we do
hereby approve the said Plat, and we do authorize the Mayor and
Town Clerk to certify this Resolution and to affix the seal of
the Twon of Wellsburg, Iowa, thereto." Motion carried.
Motion by Huisman, seconded by Freese, to install flashing
beacons above the stop signs at the intersection of Fourth Street
and Highway 214 as approved by the Iowa State Highway Commission.
Motion carried.
Motion by Huisman, seconded by Eckhoff, to appoint Woodrow
Lindaman to the Park Board for a full term. Motion carried.
Motion by Freese, seconded by Huisman, to appoint Edward
Ammann to fill the unexpired term on the Park Board vacated by
Ray Tessau. Motion carried.
