HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-07-2023 THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMONI), INDIANA, THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 7, 2023 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., in the Council Chambers in the Municipal Building, 50 North 51h Street, Richmond, Indiana. CALL TO ORDER President Robinson called the meeting to order and the following business was conducted: ROLL CALL Board members present were: Vicki Robinson, Emily Palmer and Matt Evans. Also in attendance were Kim Vessels, Assistant City Attorney; Monica Young, Ordinance Violations Specialist; Lieutenant Kevin Smith; Cedric James, Code Enforcement; Kara Noe, Purchasing; Stasia, Mikesell Excavating; and Media. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Ms. Palmer moved to approve the minutes of August 31, 2023, supported by Mr. Evans. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Mr. Evans moved to approve the Claims for Payment for September 8, 2023 in the amount of One Hundred Ninety Six Thousand Eight Hundred Fifty dollars and twenty nine cents ($196, 850.29), supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. PAYROLL CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Mr. Evans moved to approve the Payroll Claims for Payment in the amount of Nine Hundred Forty Three Thousand Five Hundred Sixteen dollars and eighteen cents ($943, 516.18), supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. PAYROLL CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT FOR PENSION —none REQUESTS • NEW HANDICAP SIGN 1020 Parry Street Board of Works Minutes May 26, 2023 Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Mr. Evans. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • HANDICAP SIGN RENEWAL 617 NW ls' Street Mr. Evans moved to approve, supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce,the motion carried. • STREET CLOSURES Culy Construction Date: Starting on September 11, 2023 and continue for approximately two weeks. Time: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The request is for the closure of North 811' Street between Bridge Avenue and Ft Wayne Avenue. This will also include the closure of North "E" Street at North 8th Street. Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Mr. Evans. Upon a vote viva voce,the motion carried. Richmond Community School Corporation — Homecoming Parade Date: September 13, 2023 (rain date for September 1411') Time: 4:00 p.m. The request is for the closure of SW 1311' Street from National Road West to West Main Street and NW 1311' Street from the entrance of McBride Stadium south to West Main Street. The parade will commence from SW 1311 Street eastbound pm West Main Street on SW lst Street. The parade will proceed on SW 1 s' Street to Hub Etchison Parkway. The parade will end in the area of the Richmond High School football field. Mr. Evans moved to approve, supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. Rick Parker—Oktoberfest Date: September 30, 2023 Time: 12:00 a.tn. to 11:00 p.m. The request is for the closure of Elm Place between North 10`11 Street and North 811' Street and Ft. Wayne Avenue between North 8111 Street and North "D" Street. Board of Works Minutes May 26, 2023 Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Mr. Evans. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. Richmond Parks and Recreation Date: November 11, 2023 Time: 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The request is to close NW 8'1' Street to Peacock Road starting at 7:00 a.m. for the lineup for the parade. West Main Street from NW 811) Street to NW Pt Street at 9:00 a.m. for the parade. Mr. Evans moved to approve, supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce,the motion carried. BID OPENINGS • DEMOLITION OF 101 LINCOLN STREET —HOUSE A. Confirm,Ition of Publication for 101 Lincoln Street by the Law Department Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Mr. Evans. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. B. Bid Opening There were two (2) bids received: Mikesell Excavating $12,100.00 B & B Construction $14,900.00 These bids were taken under advisement. C. Public Hearing on Cost to be Incurred and Bids Received Ms. Robinson opened the Public Hearing. There being no one to speak in favor or against, the hearing was closed.
