HomeMy Public PortalAbout2014.222 (12-16-14)RESOLUTION NO. 2014.222 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OR DESIGNEE TO ENTER INTO A TWO YEAR AGREEMENT WITH AT &T TO PROVIDE CELLULAR PHONE AND WIRELESS DATA SERVICES NOT TO EXCEED $40,000 PER YEAR WHEREAS, on September 16, 2014, Council authorized the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) to procure high quality cellular phone and wireless data services to provide City staff the tools needed to conduct business on a daily basis; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk's office received proposals from AT &T, Sprint, T- Mobile, and Verizon; and WHEREAS, a selection committee was created to review the proposals and test demo phones and services provided by the vendors and the committee ultimately selected AT &T due to the quality of services in our area, selection of phones offered, and competitive pricing; and WHEREAS, the objectives of this item are to ensure that the City receives high quality cellular and data service, consolidate all cell phone and data .services to one provider, issue new equipment to replace older problematic phones, and minimize costs; and WHEREAS, AT &T received the highest scores on the evaluation forms submitted by the selection committee and had good remarks from staff who tested the demo phones in the field; and WHEREAS, AT &T is offering a port over credit in the amount of $150 for smart phones and $100 for basic phones; and WHEREAS, funding for cellular and data services for FY 2014 -15 has been budgeted in the amount of $40,000 and the project cost per year on the new AT &T plan will be approximately $35,000 per year. . NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND.ORDER AS FOLLOWS:. Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Lynwood approves and authorizes the Mayor or designee to execute an agreement with AT &T to provide the City with its cellular phone and wireless data service needs in an amount not to exceed $40,000 per year.
