CHAPTER 99: LITTER
Sir, I would like to petition for changes to the following sections: 99.06 Litter Receptacles,
99.07 Enforcement, and 99.08 Penalties. Additionally, I would like to complain about the general
enforcement of the ordinance.
99.06 LITTER RECEPTACLES. Item (b) lists 17 places where litter receptacles are required. The
first item listed is (1) Public streets. This item needs to be deleted. The entire town consists of public
streets. Although it might help solve the litter problem, it's not feasible to put receptacles on each and
every public street. Current item (15) Sidewalks in business districts covers the specific public streets
needing trash receptacles.
99.07 ENFORCEMENT. Item (b) can be changed to make clear the articles referenced. New
sentence: The enforcement of articles after Article II may be enforced by .... (remaining sentence
unchanged).
99.08 PENALTIES. The fine for the ordinance needs to be changed to at least $100. A minimum
amount of 8 hours community service should be imposed.
