HomeMy Public PortalAbout20131021CRCMinutes.pdfApproved: 11-18-13 Page 1 of 1 COMMUNITY RESOURCE COMMITTEE Minutes: October 21, 2013 @ 4:30pm in City Hall MEMBERS PRESENT Dan Lockwood, Sandy Major, Chantel Morton, Bill O’Brien, Kathryn Propst, Freda Rutherford, David Turner, Paul Wolff MEMBERS ABSENT Frank Kelly, Tommy Linstroth, Mallory Pearce, Brad Sherman CALL TO ORDER Kathryn called the meeting to order at 4:30pm. MINUTES Kathryn noted that the minutes should be corrected to note that rain barrels are $60 and compost bins be $50. Freda made a motion to approve the September minutes as amended. Bill seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. ANNONCEMENTS Freda announced that Mallory’s article ran in the Tybee Breeze. REPORTS Wind Turbine: Paul distributed handouts regarding wind speed studies and Tybee Island site production projections. The committee reviewed the information. Freda suggested that the city council develop a strategic plan for energy conservation. Sandy requested Paul check on the required master plan update. Paul requested the committee do a site analysis for location of a wind turbine with factual information. Bill offered to serve on this committee. Upcoming King Tides: Kathryn reported that the website is ready and that the next King Tides are coming in November / December. Jason Evans’ project report is due in January. Paul suggested Mary Landers be contacted for publicity efforts. Energy Reports / Savings: Sandy reported that the city is now handing the data for reporting. Sandy presented a breakdown of data showing a savings of $49,000 based on information available from 2010 through the end of June 2013. Green Team: Chantel reported that the Green Team’s work for America Recycles Day continues. OLD BUSINESS YMCA Gym Energy meeting: Kathryn reported that the meeting they had with Gina and Leah at the YMCA went well. She will follow up regarding the possible use of the energy savings dollars to install spray foam in the roof. Compost Bin & Rain Barrel Project with TBA: Kathryn reported that there were not enough orders to meet the negotiated reduced cost for minimum orders of compost bins and rain barrels. She will invite Bill Phillips with Compactors, Inc. to a CRC meeting. ADJOURN The meeting adjourned at 5:50pm.
