COMMUNITY RESOURCE COMMITTEE
Minutes: November 18, 2013

CALL TO ORDER
Kathryn called the meeting to order at 4:32pm.
MINUTES
Freda made a motion to approve the October 21, 2013 minutes. Frank seconded the motion.
The motion passed unanimously.
ANNONCEMENTS
Paul announced that a town hall meeting about Wind Turbines is scheduled for January 13.
Greg Courtney will be the guest speaker.
INVITED GUEST
Glass Crusher Discussions and Questions: The guest speaker from Compactors Inc., Bill Phillips,
was unable to attend the meeting. Committee members discussed the history of obtaining and
using a glass crusher. Mallory made a motion to proceed with investigating the situation, the
options and consult with Bill Phillips in preparation for CRC to provide information for City
Council’s budget. Sandy seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
REPORTS
Wind Turbine: Paul announced that the model ordinance regarding a wind turbine will be on
the next Planning Commission meeting agenda.
King Tides: Kathryn reported that the next King Tides will be December 3 and 4 and asked for
photos to be taken. The website is and will continue to be updated.
Compostable Straws: Frank reported on the compostable straws. He will check into paper
straws.
OLD BUSINESS
The committee discussed America Recycle Day hosted by the Green Team. Members offered to
assist in the marketing efforts next year.
The committee discussed the energy reporting. The finance department will be handling. CRC
will continue to report on residential recycling and will include the South End compactor.
