COMMUNITY RESOURCE COMMITTEE
Meeting minutes: July 21, 2014

CALL TO ORDER
Kathryn called the meeting to order at 4:00pm.
JUNE 16, 2014 MINUTES
The minutes were deferred until the August meeting due to a lack of quorum at the time of
consideration.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Patty introduced herself to the committee. She presented information about the Georgia
Volunteer Healthcare Program for the agency which she works.
REPORTS AND DISCUSSION
City Green Team Update: Chantel reported that there has not been a Green Team meeting
since the last CRC meeting. Their next meeting will be August 20. Chantel will be out of
town at a downtown conference in Decatur, but will receive information and report to the
CRC in September.
Recycling: James Lanier with WastePro provided an overview of their recycling numbers by
weight for July 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 (to date). Kathryn inquired about why the
numbers she has received conflict with his reported numbers. James will review her
information and report back to the committee. Ashley, David, Kathryn, and Paul agreed to
serve on a recycling task committee. The committee will meet with quarterly with James,
Diane Schleicher and a representative from Public Works. James agreed to consider
swapping the lids of the trash containers and recycling containers to reduce confusion for
those using them.
Solar Assistance: Chad Laurent and Kathryn Wright with Meister Consultants Group
conference called in and presented a Solar Powering Your Community presentation.
Discussion ensued regarding a Request for Proposal process. Kathryn will prepare a survey
for the residents of Tybee to provide responses in order to gauge interest for solar options.
She will email to the committee for input.
