COMMUNITY RESOURCE COMMITTEE (CRC)
Meeting minutes: August 18, 2014

CALL TO ORDER
Kathryn called the meeting to order at 4:05pm.
JUNE & JULY MINUTES
The minutes were deferred until the September meeting due to a lack of quorum at the time
of consideration.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Kathryn announced that the Recycling Committee met. They had a productive meeting
reviewing short-term and long-term plans.
REPORTS AND DISCUSSION
City Sustainability Plan: Kathryn reported that past and current committee members
developed a “Tybee Sustainability Goals” document. Recent priorities have been based on
discussions regarding the police cars and public safety and requested goals conveyed by the
Mayor. She reviewed the document with members. All agreed that the CRC and the Green
Team share the goal to reduce energy by 20% by 2020. Paul agreed to seek confirmation
that the Mayor and City Council support this goal. Members agreed that, once public
support is expressed, they will update the current goals document and present an overall
Sustainability Plan for elected officials to officially adopt. Paul asked Chantel to send the
current CRC’s Sustainability Goals document to the chair of the Green Team. Chantel
confirmed she will email it to Leah after the meeting. Kathryn will contact Diane to confirm
which departments and / or other committees are working to accomplish energy reduction
of 20% and the possibility of forming a committee to solidify the five identified categories in
the Sustainability Plan.
