Meeting Minutes: October 20, 2014

CALL TO ORDER
Kathryn called the meeting to order at 4:05pm
SEPTEMBER 15, 2014 MINUTES
Freda made a motion to approve the Community Resource Committee meeting minutes
from September 15, 2014. Ron seconded the motion. The motion was passed
unanimously.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Kathryn is recognized for her hard work and thorough research on the north end restroom
project.
REPORTS AND DISCUSSION
Kathryn introduces potential new member, Bud Matlock.
Recycling-A location is being scouted for north end recycling compactor.
Kathryn has been recommended to present a revised ordinance to require businesses to
have a recycle cart along with trash carts as well as the discrepancy about composting.
Potential savings for the businesses if they exchange a trash cart for a recycle cart, there is
a $17 saving incentive. Consideration for pet waste composting research to be done for
the dog park.
Energy Plan- Kathryn and Ron express concern with the data used for the energy use
baseline. Kathryn will contact Ga power to get more accurate readings from 2008 usage.
Controlling systems are now working. Discussion of commissioning professionals for
overseeing geothermal projects.
Paul suggests town hall meeting to have Q&A from solar speakers for home owners,
residents. Tentatively December 4, 2014 @ 6:30 city hall.
Deadline for GCI grant is November 3, 2014, Kathryn will set up meeting time to write
the letter of intent, a carrying capacity study has been decided on.
Ashley goes before city council on October 23, 2014 to propose an ordinance to eliminate
single use plastic bags.

Write goals for carrying capacity study.
