RESOLUTION NO. 97-26
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF TRUCKEE CALLING NOTICE OF A SPECIAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 4, 1997 FOR THE SUBMISSION OF A
PROPOSED TOWN ROAD IMPROVEMENT SALES TAX
WHEREAS, pursuant to the authority of Article XI of the California Constitution and
Government Code Section 34458, the Town Council of the Town of Truckee desires to submit to
the voters a measure related to financing Town road restoration work; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF TRUCKEE,
SECTION 1. There is hereby called and ordered to be held in the Town of Truckee,
California, on November 4, 1997, a special municipal election for purposes of submitting the
following measure:
IShould the Truckee Town Council, as authorized by State law, adopt an ordinance which
cents to finance tke implementation of the Truckee Road Improvement Plan?

SECTION 2. The Road Improvement Committee Proposal submitted to the voters is
attached as Exhibit "A", attached hereto and incorporated herein.
SECTION 3. That the polls shall be open at 7:00 AM of the day of the election and shall
remain open continuously until 8:00 PM of the same day when the polls shall be closed, except
as provided in Section 14401 of the Elections Code of the State of California.
SECTION 4. That in all particulars not recited in this Resolution, the election shall be
held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections.
SECTION 5. That notice of the time and place of holding the election is given and the
Town Clerk is authorized, instructed and directed to give further or additional notice of the
election, in time, form and manner as required by law.
SECTION 6. That, pursuant to Elections Code Section 10002, the Nevada County
Board of Supervisors is requested to authorize the County Clerk to render all services necessary
for the conduct of the election, and that the Town of Truckee agrees to reimburse the County of
Nevada for the costs of conducting the election.

SECTION 7. That the Town Clerk shall certify the passage and adoption of this
resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
The foregoing Resolution was introduced at a Special Meeting of the Town Council of the Town
of Truckee, held on the 24th day of July, 1997, by Councilmember ******* who moved its
adoption, which motion being duly seconded by Councilmember ** ****** was upon roll call
carried and the Resolution adopted by the following vote:

Funds generated by the 1/2 cent Sales Tax approved by the voters shall be used solely for the
repair, replacement, construction, or reconstruction of these designated roads.
Exclusive Fundine A V2 cent Sales Tax shall be enacted, the funds from which shall be used
exclusively for road repair, replacement, construction, or reconstruction in Truckee and for no
other purpose.
Sunset Clause Voter approval for the collection of this tax shall sunset 12 years from the passage
of this measure unless it is subsequently resubmitted to the voters for further approval.
