Since that time I have been the Town Manager, Town Clerk, Chief of Police and -- most of the time -- my own secretary. At the commission meeting of November 17th I was directed to search for a Town Clerk. I must admit that I had performed background investigations on a number of possible candidates some time before the commission advised me to do so. Enclosed please find a resume and a letter of commendation on Mrs. Rita Taylor who has been the Town Clerk in Ocean Ridge for the past 18 years. Mrs. Taylor is, by far, one of the most knowledgeable public servants in our area and I would like very much to hire her. She advises that she would be available for employment in mid -January at a salary of $31,500. I want to first preface the comments by stating that I am generally not given to flattery or over stating facts and this letter has not been solicited of me by you. You have always exhibited an extremely high level of loyalty and dedication to the Town, which is.evidenced by the 60 to 80 hour weeks you put in but moreover in your attitude and actions demonstrated at your work. Clearly the ever present goal uppermost in your mind is "How does the decision benefit the Town?" Your strong analytical ability has always been evident in considering in detail the many sides of an issue and then rendering the best decision or recommendation. Your meticulous attention to detail is so very important in dealing effectively with all situations as you do. The background and history involved in various problems and situations is always important and I have constantly been amazed at your ability to recall the history in considering current decisions. page 2 I have told numerous people and I mean this as sincerely as stated, I do not know of any public official that has exhibited the dedication, hard work and ability that you consistently exhibit as the Town Clerk of Ocean Ridge. Although I know residents and officials of the Town are aware of your ethics and abilities, but they truly cannot know of them or appreciate them to the degree that I do.
