HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-29-2024 THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FEBRUARY 29, 2024 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., in the Council Chambers in the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. CALL TO ORDER President Palmer called the meeting to order and the following business was conducted: ROLL CALL Board members present were: Emily Palmer and Jamie Lopeman. Absent was Matt Evans. Also in attendance were Kim Vessels, Assistant City Attorney; Monica Burns, Deputy City Clerk; Major Mike Black; Bill Henry, Code Enforcement; Cedric James, Code Enforcement; Shenie Richey, Code Enforcement; Derek Hill, Code Enforcement Supervisor: Fire Chief Jeff Kinder; Assistant Fire Chief James Clark; Greg Stiens, Director of Public Works and Engineering; and Media. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Lopeman moved to approve the minutes of February 22,2023, supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Mr. Lopeman moved to approve the Claims for Payment for March 1, 2024 in the amount of One Hundred Forty Seven Thousand One Hundred Eighty Seven Dollars and eighty five cents ($147,187.85), supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. REQUESTS • NEW HANDICAP SIGN 1415 Harris Street Mr. Lopeman moved to approve, supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried • STREET CLOSURE Annual Tremell Carpenter Memorial Block Party Board of Works Minutes February 29, 2024 generator and automatic transfer switch, preventative and regular maintenance, scheduled inspections, load bank testing and repairs (NFPA), and taking any warranted fuel samples to be submitted for third-party analysis and reporting for the generators located at Fire Stations No. 1 (101 South 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana). Not to exceed $2,500.00 and the cost for the NFPA load bank test shall not exceed the total amount of Six Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents $600.00 per warranted test. Mr. Lopeman moved to approve, supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carriedL • CONTRACT NO. 31-2024 —COX EXCAVATING The City hereby retains Contractor to perform services in connection with the emergency demolition of the garage located at 644 South 10th Street. The services shall include demolition, removal of debris, and restoration of the site. Not to exceed $1,700.00 Mr. Lopeman moved to approve, supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carriedL • CONTRACT NO. 32-2024 —REDDOG ENTERPRISES INC. The City retains Contractor to perform services in connection with the cleanup of 306 Randolph Street previously deemed by the Richmond Enforcement Authority to be noncompliant and ordered to be cleaned up. Services shall include the cleanup and removal of all vehicle parts, tires, appliances, furniture,construction materials, tarps, trash, rubbish, and debris strewn about the premises, and other materials. Not to exceed $1,750.00 Mr. Lopeman moved to approve, supported by Ms. Palmer. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carriedL • CONTRACT NO. 33-2024 —RICHMOND CARPET OUTLET The City retains Contractor to furnish and install new flooring in three offices in the Richmond Municipal Building. The project includes materials and labor and includes removal and disposal of the currently-existing carpet. Not to exceed$7,849.26 Mr. Lopeman moved to approve, supported by Ms. Palmer.
