Savannah,Beach, Tybee Island, January 3, 1930.
The regular meeting of Town Council was held today at 4:00 p.m.
and was attended by the Mayor, who presided, and C ouncilmen Horovitz,
Cann and Walthour also Town Attorney McIntyre.
Mr. McIntyre informed Council that the court had awarded to
Mr. Thomas Reed of $200.00 plus 8 per cent interest.on
account of. his Auit against the Town, this case being the outcome
of a fine assessed against George Hosti on August 13, 1928, Reed
having made bond of 4200.00 for Hosti, and Hosti •subsequently was
fined 4200.00, Reed contending that the Town applied the $200.00
put up by Reed as bond for Hosti on the fine assessed against Hosti.
The Mayor called attention to the dilapidated and unsafe
condition.. of the buildings used as Bath Houses by Mr. E. B. Izlar,
he said that At the present condition they are a danger to public
safety, therefore Hr. Cann made a motion that if repairs have not
been made by March 15th same will be condemned and torn down by the
Town at his expense,seconded by Mr. Walthour and passed.
The Mayor informed Council that the Town could buy approxi-
mately 7,000 bushels of oyster shells at 3% per bushel on the
ground at Tybee, this offer being made by Mr. Julian Hartridge
Administrator of the Estate of William Lloyd, Mr. Walthour made
a motion that the Town purchase these shells at that price, seconded
by Mr. Cann and passed.
The Mayor informed Council that as the funds of the Town
were getting very low he asked for authority to borrow if necessary,
41,000, Mr. Cann made a motion that the Mayor be authorized to borrow
from any bank or banks agreed upon by him the sum of 41,000 for such
time and upon such terms as he saw fit, this was seconded by Mr.
Walthour, motion passed.
There being no further business Council adjourned subject
to the call of the Mayor.
