ORDINANCE NO. 19-2024
AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING
THE SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF
A GRANT FROM INDIANA UNIVERSITY
WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may execute
any documents necessary to receive money from the state or federal
government or any other source, and said documents are prepared and
executed by the City executive administration, provided that the Common
Council of the City of Richmond as the legislative body of the City approves
an s dinance for the appropriation of any monies received in accordance with
IC 3'6-4-6-18; and
WHEREAS, Indiana University, through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural
Affairs ("OCRA"), has grant funding available for the "Beat the Heat for
Local Governments" Program; and
WHEREAS, The City of Richmond desires to submit a grant application for grant funding
for the development and implementation of an air-conditioning unit program;
and
WHEREAS, No lk)cal match is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond, in accordance with IC 36-1-4-10, has submitted or will
submit a grant application to the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs ("OCRA")
and Indiana University through the Beat the Heat Program for Local Governments for grant
funding for the development and implementation of an air-conditioning unit program.
2. The City of Richmond is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up
to Twenty Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($20,000.00).

3. All grant funding, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be appropriated to
assist the City with the development and implementation of an air-conditioning unit
program.
