HomeMy Public PortalAbout022-2024 - grant - RPD - Criminal JusticeCOMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA ORDINANCE NO. 22-2024 AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE INDIANA CRIMINAL JUSTICE INSTITUTE WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may execute any documents necessary to receive money from the state or federal government or any other source, and said documents are prepared and executed by the City executive administration, provided that the Common Council of the City of Richmond as the legislative body of the City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any monies received in accordance with IC 36-4-6-18; and WHEREAS, The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute has grant funding available through its “Comprehensive Highway Injury Reduction” grant program; and WHEREAS, The City of Richmond Police Department has submitted or will submit a grant application to obtain funds for injury reduction initiatives; and WHEREAS, A twenty percent (20%) local match is required for this grant. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows: 1. The City of Richmond Police Department has submitted or will submit, as authorized by IC 36-1-4-10, a grant application to the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute to obtain funds from its Comprehensive Highway Injury Reduction grant program to obtain funds for injury reduction initiatives, outside current assignments. 2. The City of Richmond Police Department is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount of up to Fifty Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($50,000.00) from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute. 3. The local match of Ten Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($10,000.00) shall be supplied from Richmond Police Department contributions in the form of “like kind” salary matches. 4. Said funds, if awarded, shall be appropriated to assist with injury reduction initiatives in compliance with the state’s Comprehensive Highway Injury Reduction grant program.
