HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-04-2024 TM, BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMONI), INDIANA, APRIL 4, 2024 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., in the Council Chambers in the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. CALL TO ORDER Member Evans called the meeting to order and the following business was conducted: ROLL CALL Board members present were: Matt Evans, Jamie Lopeman and Joanne Buroker. Also in attendance were Kim Vessels, Assistant City Attorney; Monica Burns, Deputy City Clerk; Lieutenant Mike Black; Greg Stiens, Director of Board of Public Works and Engineering; Derek Hill, and Sherrie Richey, Code Enforcement; Doug Gardner, Deputy Fire Chief; and Media. ELECTION OF OFFICERS Mr. Lopeman nominated Mr. Evans for President, supported by Ms. Buroker. Upon a vote viva. voce, the motion carried. Mr. Lopeman moved to elect Mr. Evans for President, supported by Ms. Buroker. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Lopeman moved to approve the minutes of March 28, 2024, supported by Ms. Buroker. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Mr. Lopeman moved to approve the Claims for Payment for of April 5, 2024 in the amount of One Hundred Forty Eight Thousand Thirty Four Dollars and sixty three cents($148,034.63), supported by Ms. Buroker. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. PAYROLL CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Mr. Lopeman moved to approve the Payroll Claims for Payment for April 5, 2024 in the amount of Seven. Hundred Ninety Two Thousand Three Hundred Six Dollars and thirty two cents ($792,306.32), supported. by Ms. Buroker. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. REQUESTS • HANDICAP SIGN RENEWALS Board of Works Minutes April 4, 2024 53 NW "Fi" Street 318 Pearl Street 525 Pearl Street Mr. Lopeman moved to approve, supported by Ms. Buroker. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • STREET CLOSURES Speed on Asphalt Car Show Date: June 22, 2024 Time: 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sonny Stanley and Jordan Hawkins are requesting the closure of SW 1 st Street from Hawkins Speed Shop to Community Funeral Home (Unless they have a funeral that day). Mr. Lopeman moved to approve, supported by Ms. Buroker. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. Opening Day Parade Date: Saturday, May 4, 2024 (rain date May 11, 2024) Time: 8:30 a.m. to approximately 10:00 a.m. Carlos Hunter with the Richmond Evening Optimist Club is requesting these closures. Mary Scott Park,NW 8th Street and NW"A" Street to Peacock Road for the teams to gather. The parade will march down Peacock Road to NW 13th Street to the entrance of the Richmond Evening Optimist ball diamonds. Mr. Lopeman moved to approve, supported by Ms. Buroker. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. BID AWARDS • CITY BUILDING LAWN CARE SERVICES TrueGreen Commercial Not to exceed $1.425.00 Mr. Lopeman moved to approve, supported by Ms. Buroker. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. CONTRACTS • CONTRACT NO. 63-2024 — REDDOG ENTERPRISES INC. Board of Works Minutes April 4, 2024 The City retains Contractor to provide services in connection with the emergency securing, cleanup of premises, and sealing and boarding of structures located at the premises located at 218 N 20'1' Street for the Department of Code Enforcement. Not to exceed $1,200.00 Mr. Lopeman moved to approve, supported by Ms. Buroker. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • CONTRACT NO. 64-2024 — B&B CONSTRUCTION OF RICHMOND The City retains Contractor to perform services in connection with the demolition of certain structures located in Richmond, Indiana. Services shall include demolition, removal of debris, and restoration of the site. The structure is as follows: House, deck, and fencing 211 South 12'1' Street, Richmond, Indiana $4,999.00 House —213 South 12'1' Street, Richmond, Indiana S4,999.00 TOTAL: $9,998.00 Mr. Lopeman moved to approve, supported by Ms. Buroker. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion canied, • CONTRACT NO. 65-2024 —REDDOG ENTERPRISES INC. The City retains Contractor to perform services in connection with the cleanup of a premises previously deemed by the Richmond Enforcement Authority to be noncompliant and ordered to be cleaned up. The premises is located at 819 North 14th Street. Services shall include the cleanup and removal of all vehicle parts, tires, appliances, furniture, construction materials, tarps, trash, rubbish, and debris strewn about the premises, as well as the removal of the entire brush line and the cutting down of the dead tree near the alley, and other materials. Not to exceed $900.00 Mr. Lopeman moved to approve, supported by Ms. Buroker. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried, ADDENDUMS • ADDENDUM NO. 1 TO CONTRACT NO. 111-2023—CUMMINS ELECTRIC INC. City and Contractor entered into Contract No. 111-2023 on June 14, 2023, which Agreement the Contractor will provide services in connection with the third-party installation services of the 120v receptacle for the baby box safety device at Fire Station No. 1 for the Fire Department. The Parties have agreed that additional materials and labor are needed in order to properly relocate the existing outlet and to install an additional conduit and outlet for the alarm associated with the baby box safety device.
