COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA
ORDINANCE NO. 25-2024
AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT
FROM WAYNE COUNTY, INDIANA
WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may execute
any documents necessary to receive money from the state or federal
government or any other source, and said documents are prepared and
executed by the City executive administration, provided that the Common
Council of the City of Richmond as the legislative body of the City approves
an ordinance for the appropriation of any monies received in accordance with
IC 36-4-6-18; and
WHEREAS, The local statutory governmental unit of Wayne County, Indiana, has grant
funding available through its Wayne County Blight grant program and if said
funds are awarded to the City, the City wishes to use the grant to fund the
demolition of blighted and abandoned residential structures within the city;
and
WHEREAS, No local match is required for this grant program.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond through its Division of Strategic Initiatives has
submitted or will submit, as authorized by IC 36-1-4-10, a grant application to
Wayne County, Indiana.
2. The City of Richmond is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount
up to Three Hundred Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($300,000.00).

3. Said funds, if awarded, shall be appropriated to fund the demolition of blighted
and abandoned residential structures within the city.
