Savannah Beach,
Tybee Island,Ga.
The regular meeting of Council 1,,as held to -day at
attended bybthe Mayor,who presided,and Councilmen
Walthour and Farr and Town Attorney McIntyre.
The Mayor said that Mr. Sharpley had sent him a bile of material
for the proposed bulk -head and he suggested that if the work is
to be started in the near future it would be necessary for the
Town to get a credit extension for at least a 120 days.
The Mayor said he had been informed by Judge West that work had
been started on the Tybee road today, that the County will take
care of Campbell Street, Lieut. Hildreth has been instructed to
put out Oleanders. He said that he had been in conference with
Mr. Friedman, State highway engineer relative to getting material
for 16th and 17th Streets and the Strand. A letter was received
from Dr. H. W. Righton complimenting the Town authorities for the
splindid work done during the past year. The Mayor suggested
that it would be necessary to get at least three (3) carloads of
gravel, and on motion of Mr. Horovitz that three (3) carloads of
gravel be purchased, seconded by Mr. Walthour, the motion passed.

The Mayor said that the Town would need about three (3) lighters
of oyster shells, the cost of which will be about $1500.00 with
the privilege of paying for same next fall. The Mayor informed,
Council that he had never received from Mr. A. F. Solms an ack-
nowledgement of his encroachment on the Strand. Mr. McIntyre
said he had received a letter from Mr. Solms but it was not ac-
ceptable.
There being no further business Council adjourned subject to the
call of the Mayor.

Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, March 7, 1930.
The regular meeting of Council was held today at 4:00 p.m. and was
attended by the Mayor, who presided, and •Councilmen Horovitz, Cann
and Walthour.
The Mayor informed Council that the notes covering demand loans
made through the Citizens Trust Company were about to expire by
the statute of limitations and that the bank had requested that
new notes be made to take care of the existing indebtedness amount -
ing to $1540.00, since the original notes were made the Citizens
Trust Company has changed its name to the Citizens Bank and Trust
Company and the Town of Tybee has changed its name to Savannah
Beach, Tybee Island, Ga.., on motion of Mr. Horovitz that the
following resolution be passed, seconded by Mr. Walthour, motion
passed.

RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS on July 23, 1924 the Mayor and Councilmen of
the Town of Tybee incurred an indebtedness of Twelve Thousand
Dollars 012,000.00) and on August 28, 1924 as indebtedness of
Three Thousand Dollars 03000.00) and on October 31, 1924 an
indebtedness of One Thousand Dollars 31000.00) and on February
22, 1925 and indebtedness of Three Thousand Dollars 03000.00),
all to the Citizens Trust Company of Savannah, Georgia, each of
said indebtednesses being evidenced by a promissory note for the
said respective sums payable to the order of said Citizens Trust
Company and bearing interest from date at the rate of seven per
cent (7`0) per annum and signed in behalf of the Town of Tybee by
E. George Butter then Mayor of said Town, and by Henry M. Buckley,
Treasurer of said Town; and
WHEREAS the said indebtedness has been reduced from time
to time until there is now owed thereon the sum of :Fifteen Thous-
and Three Hundred and Fifty Dollars (15, 350.00); and
WHEREAS the said Citizens Trust Company has since the .
execution of said note had its name change in accordance with the
law of Georgia to the name of the Citizens Bank & Trust Company;
and
. WHEREAS the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Tybee
has had its name changed by an act of the General Assembly of the
State of Georgia approved August 1st, 1929 to "Savannah Beach,
Tybee Island "; and
WHEREAS the said Citizens Bank & Trust Company in order
that said indebtednessed may not become barred by the statute of
limitations of the State of Georgia, has requested that proper
resolution be passed authorizing the Mayor of Savannah Beach,
Tybee Island and the Treasurer to sign such instrument as may be
necessay to prevent said debts from becoming barred as aforesaid;
and
WHEREAS the said indebtedness is a just and lawful ob-
ligation of said Savannah Beach, Tybee Island;
NOW 'zdIREFORE BE IT RESOLVED at a regular meeting of the
Mayor and Councilman of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island that the
Honorable Thomas Gamble, Mayor of this municipal corporation, and
Henry M. Buckley Treasurer thereof, be and they are hereby authoriz-
ed and directed, under the corporate seal and in the name of said
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island- to sign instrument or instruments as
may be approved by the attorneys of said municipal corporation that
will keep alive and prevent the said indebtedness to said Citizens
Bank & Trust Company from being barred by the statute of limitations
before the said indebtednesses are paid.
The Mayor informed Council that it would be necessary to borrow an
additional $1,00040, Mr. Cann made a motion that the Mayor be per-
mitter to borrow X1,000.00, seconded by Mr.. Walthour, Motion passed.

RESOLUTION.
RESOLVED That the Mayor be and he is hereby authoriz-
ed and directed, for the purpose of supplying a casual deficiency
in revenue now existing, to borrow from such bank or banks of the
City of Savannah as may be selected by him, the sum of One Thousand
($1000.00) Dollars for such time and upon such terms as the Mayor
shall agree upon and to evidence said loan by executing in the name
of on behalf of the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Tybee a
note or notes not exceeding in the aggregate the principal sum of
One Thousand (1000.00) Dollars and that said note or notes shall be
executed under the official seal of the Mayor and Councilmen of the
Town of Tybee attested by the Clerk of Council.
The bids for the proposed new bulk -head on the Strand on 14th Street
extending south to the bulk -head connecting with the Tybrisa Pavi-
lion were read, Councilmen Logan and Walthour, with Mr. Sharpley
were appointed a committee to handle and investigate the matter
and report back on same.
There being no further business Council adjourned subject to the
call of the Mayor.

Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, March 24,1030.
A special meeting of Council was held today at 4:00 p.m. and was
attended by the Mayor, who presided, and Councilmen Espy, Logan,
Walthour and Farr.
For the election to be held on April 7, 1930 for a Mayor and six
(6) Councilmen, the following property owners were selected as
managers for the election; John T. Collins, J. A. Logan and
J. A. Samuels.
The Mayor informed Councilmen that Mr. Smith, Vice President of
the Citizens Bank and Trust Company had insisted that the Town
pay the reduction and interest charges on the demand loans up to
May 1st, this making it necessary to borrow additional money, the
Mayor said it would be necessary now to negotiate a loan for
$1750.00 and he requested authority to borrow $1750.00 and also
that the resolution passed last month authorizing him to borrow
$1,000.00 to be repealed, Mr. Walthour made a motion that the
Mayor be empowered to borrow $1750.00 and also the resolution
passed last month authorizing the Mayor to borrow ;1,000.00 be
repealed, Mr. Espy seconded same and the motion passed.
