HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-06-18 AgendaDECEMBER 6, 2018 The Agenda Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret preceding the Regular Meeting, Thursday, November 19, 2017 was held Thursday, December 6, 2017 at 6:00 P.M., Council Chambers, Memorial Municipal Building, 61 Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey. AGENDA MEETING The following were noted present: ROLL CALL Mayor Daniel J. Reiman Councilmember Vincent Bellino Jorge Diaz Dennis DiMascio Randy Krum Susan Naples Also noted present was Kathleen M. Barney, MMC, Municipal Clerk NOTED PRESENT and Borough Attorney Robert J. Bergen, Esq. Noted Absent was Councilmember Ajmar Johal NOTED ABSENT The meeting was opened with a minute of silent prayer and the SILENT PRAYER / PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilmember Randy Krum. The Municipal Clerk stated that the 2018 Annual Meeting Notice STATEMENT OF MEETING was mailed to The Home News Tribune, The Star Ledger and posted NOTICE on the bulletin board on December 28, 2017. Notice was published in The Home News Tribune and The Star Ledger on January 5, 2018. 1 DECEMBER 6, 2018 CONT.. MINUTES FOR Upon MMS &C by Councilmembers Diaz and Bellino and unanimous APPROVAL affirmative vote of the five (5) Councilmembers present, the Minutes of November 19, 2018 were approved as transcribed and engrossed by the Clerk. MAYOR REIMAN Mayor Reiman presented St. Mary's Pastor with a $1,000.00 check on behalf of the Carteret Business Partnership. Mayor Reiman presented a $1,000.00 from the Children's Charity Trust Fund as well. Hungarian Reformed Church also donated $1,000.00 to St. Mary's Church. ST. MARY'S PASTOR FIRST READING The Pastor from St. Mary's church thanked everyone for their generosity. BUSINESS There being no further comments or objections to the Resolutions PUBLIC HEARING CLOSED / Agenda items or new business, Upon MMS &C by Councilmembers Bellino and Krum and unanimous affirmative vote of the five (5) members present, the public portion of the meeting was closed. Mayor Reiman read the Resolutions into the record: 1. Award of Bids for 2019 Snow Plowing & Removal Services. 2. PAYMENT OF BILLS Upon MMS &C by Councilmembers Diaz and Bellino all bills appearing on the prepared list, properly audited and signed, were ordered to be paid. Upon Individual Roll Call Vote, Councilmembers Bellino, Diaz, DiMascio, Krum and Naples voted in the Affirmative. Councilmember Johal was noted Absent. REPORTS Reports: 1. Clerk's Office November 2018 Upon MMS &C by Councilmembers Diaz and Krum and unanimous affirmative vote of the five (5) Councilmembers present all Reports were ordered to be received and placed on file. BUSINESS TO BE ADDED COMMITTEES: PUBLIC WORKS — Committee Chairman DiMascio said they started paving the roads on Liberty Street. Mayor Reiman said there are three (3) additional streets that MAYOR REIMAN should be done by spring. Two (2) streets are on hold on the West [: DECEMBER 6, 2018 CONT. Carteret Project as the water company came in after the bid to say that they are going to be doing a substantial water line replacement. Councilmember DiMascio said he notified Ed Segotta about a pot hole in front of the West Carteret car wash and the County came and fixed it. Mayor Reiman said they were trying to put in some catch basins for MAYOR REIMAN the run -off water. Mayor Reiman congratulated John Riley on his Retirement. FIRE & DOMESTIC PREPAREDNESS — Committee Chairman Krum reported four (4) volunteers dhould be graduating in January 2019 and Santa Claus from the fire house is driving around visiting the kids in town. POLICE — Committee Chairman Naples reported progress at this time. BOARD OF EDUCATION — Committee Chairman Naples reported progress at this time. BUILDING & GROUNDS — Mayor Reiman reported progress at this time. FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION — Committee Chairman Diaz reported progress at this time. PARKS, RECREATION & PUBLIC PROPERTY — Committee Chairman Bellino said we have the winter festival and the lighting of the tree and Santa Claus will be in attendance. 7 DECEMBER 6, ?018 CONT. MAYOR REIMAN Mayor Reiman said that they also mailed out the sanitary sewer rebate for our seniors, veterans and disabled residents. ADJOURNED After no further discussion, upon MMS &C by Councilmembers Bellino and Krum and unanimous affirmative vote of the five (5) Councilmembers present, the meeting was Adjourned at approximately 6:08 P.M.
