Whereas, the City Council on the advice of the Moab City Planning
Commission feels that it is necessary to amend the objectives and
characteristics and use requirements of the C-5 zone to make this
zone more in keeping with the Moab City General Plan and to provide
for commercial use that is in harmony with the residential
neighborhood characteristics.
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED AS FOLLOWS:
That Ordinance #88-05 is hereby amended to read as follows:

17.30.010 Objectives and characteristics. The C-5
neighborhood commercial zone has been established for the primary
purpose of providing a location where commercial establishments can
be located where people who live in the surrounding neighborhood
can obtain daily household goods and services conveniently. This
zone is characterized by stores and shops, and establishments
situated in a landscaped surroundings that are maintained in
harmony with amenities of adjacent residential development.
In order to accomplish the objectives and purposes of this
title and to promote the characteristics of this zone, the
following regulations shall apply in the C-5 neighborhood
commercial zone.
17.30.020 Use requirements. The following buildings,
structures and uses of land shall be permitted in the C-5 zone upon
compliance with the requirements set forth in this title:
A. Convenience establishments as defined in this title;
Parking lots;
Pet shops;
Signs
Rest homes;
Schools and other public buildings;
Day care centers;
Cafes;
Gymnasiums;
Apartments;
Two-family dwellings;
Single family dwellings;
Fraternal organization lodges;
Medical clinics;
Professional offices;
Grocery stores less than 3000 square feet;
Veterinary clinics with no outside kennel or livestock

R. Planned unit developments subject to the requirements and
conditions set forth in Chapter 17.66 (Planned Unit Developments)
of this title relating to large-scale developments.

commission to the objectives and characteristics of this zone.
17.30.030 Area and width, and location requirements. There
shall be no area, width or location requirements, except for land
that is necessary to provide for required landscaping and off-
street parking and, except that all buildings shall be set back at
least fifteen feet from the boundaries of the C-5 zone.
17.30.040 Special provisions.
A. A landscaped strip of at least fifteen feet in width shall
be installed along the border of any public street in compliance
with Sections 17.12.360--17.12.420 of this title.
B. All off-street parking space shall be hard surfaced.
C. A11 areas not covered by buildings, off-street parking
space or walks and drives shall be landscaped.
17.30.050 Supplementary regulations. See also Supplementary
Requirements and Procedures Applicable Within Zones (Chapter 17.09
of this title).
