HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-20-2006THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, APRIL 20, 2006 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, April 20, 2006, in the Community Room at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. In attendance were Board Members John Kenny, Dian Lawson and Mary Jo Flood. Also attending were Assistant City Attorney Kenyatta Cox, Assistant City Engineer Greg Steins, Police Chief Kris Wolski, Tom McKee, Danny Byrd and Dave Mears. The following business was conducted: CALL TO ORDER Kenny called the meeting to order and noted for the minutes that all board members and legal counsel were present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Kenny made a request to the board to approve the minutes for the April 13, 2006 meeting. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Kenny made a request to the board to approve the claims for payment in the amount of $365,437.03. Some of the larger items were Property & Liability Insurance in the amount of $180,000.00, quarterly payment to the Animal Welfare League, GIS inter local agreement in the amount of $56,000.00, a payment to the Engineers on the Hodgin Road Project in the amount of $26,000.00 and the first payment for the Housing Rehab which we received a grant, to Starr Development in the amount of $58,000.00. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. REQUEST A. Kenny brought to the board a request that was presented by Assistant City Engineer Greg Steins and Tom McKee from Butler, Fairman and Seifert, for the approval to close Hodgin Road from Henley Road to South 37th Street on or after April 24, 2006 for approximately 30 days for construction. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. B. Kenny made a request to the board that was submitted by Chuck Wellings for the approval of a noise variance for Chuck's Sports Bar / Wellings Steak house so they can have live bands play outside on Sundays during the summer between 12 noon and 8:00 P.M. Sunday, August 20, 2006 1. Sunday, August 27, 2006 m. Sunday, September 3, 2006 and Monday, September 4, 2006 Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed C. Kenny brought to the board a request to approve 4 curb cuts. They are as follows: 1) 3701 Hodgin Road — Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. 2) 202 NW 13t11 Street — Kenny decided to table this one because not all of the sections on the form were completed by appropriate departments. 3) 204 NW 13t11 Street — Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. 4) A temporary curb cut at 3700 National Road and Hayes Arboretum Road for Richmond Village — Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. CONTRACTS A. Kenny brought a request to the board that was presented by Police Chief Kris Wolski for the approval of Contract No. 30 -2006 which is between the City of Richmond by and through its Police Merit Commission and Institute for Public Safety Personnel, Inc. Chief Wolski explained that this is an agreement that is renewed every other year. He also explained that the increase was just slightly under $300.00. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. BID OPENINGS A. Kenny brought to the board bids for the aggregate & bituminous materials for 2006.
