The regular meeting of Council was not held today due to the
lack of a quorum.

A special meeting of Council was held today at 4: P. M. and was
attended by Mayor Gamble who presided, and Councilmen Cann, Farr,
and Walthour.

The Mayor informed Council that his reason for calling this meeting
was that Mr. Tiedeman, Chairman of County Commissioners had notified
him that the County would not feed more than five mules at the camp,
the Mayor said,:that this, if put into effect would entail quite an
expense to the Town, it was the sense of the meeting that the :ounty
should take care of this expense, so the mayor appointed ouncilwen
.Farr and .,spy a committee to call on mr. iiedeman relative to tnzs,
ana report back to s kuncil.
The Mayor read a letter from the Engineering office of the War Dept.,
advising that the state highway dept., contemplate daring away with
the bridge tenders at Turners Creek -Bull River and Lazaretto Creek
bridges and substituting therefore, one tender located at some con-
venient place, who will respond to telephone calls from either of
the three bridges, when made by boatmen desiring to go through,
No action was taken on the matter.
The Mayor informed Council that Mr. E. B. Izlar had called to see
him relative to his taxes, Mr. Izlar told him that Mr. Walthour
had told him that if he paid a substantial amount on his taxes
that probably action against him could be delayed, Mr. Izlar said
that he was trying to raise the money now, but nothing was done
about the matter.
