HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-08-2006THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JUNE 8, 2006 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, June 8, 2006, in the Community Room at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. In attendance were Board Members John Kenny, Dian Lawson and Mary Jo Flood. Also attending were Assistant City Attorney Kenyatta Cox, Deputy Controller Tammy Glenn, Animal Control Officer Ned Hines, Patrolman Jeff Carrico, Patrolman Jimmy Edwards and Ron Shell. The following business was conducted: CALL TO ORDER Kenny called the meeting to order and noted for the minutes that all board members and legal counsel were present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Kenny made a request to the board to approve the minutes for the June 1, 2006 and the June 6, 2006 meetings. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Kenny made a request to the board to approve the claims for payment in the amount of $98,277.48. Some of the larger items were to Bolin Construction for work done on city sidewalks and curbs in the amount of $34,789.00 and a payment to Butler Fairman and Seufert the engineering firm on the Hodgin Road Project in the amount of $10,900.00. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. CONTRACTS A. Kenny brought to the board a request that was presented by Deputy City Controller Tammy Glenn for the approval of Contract No. 39 -2006 between the City and Wayne Township for Fire Department Services. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. B. Kenny brought to the board a request that was presented by Deputy City Controller Tammy Glenn for the approval of Contract No. 40 -2006 between the City and Spring Grove for Fire Department Services. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. Board of Works Minutes June 8, 2006 Page 2 of 2 BID OPENINGS A. Kenny brought to the board bids to be opened for the Microsurfacing of various city streets. There was one bidder and that was from Strawser Inc in the amount of $182,918.25 OLD BUSINESS The board read their Finding of Facts on a Dog Hearing that was held on June 1, 2006 to determine if three dogs residing at 1087 NW "C" was dangerous and vicious. Their findings were that the three dogs in question are dangerous and vicious. A copy of those findings and what the owner needs to do to comply with City Code 91.15(c) (1) -(8) are on file in the City Clerk's Office. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned.
