TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE
MINUTES
November 16, 1995
A special meeting of the McCall Transportation Committee was called to order by Chairman Kirk at
7:03 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 1995 in the lower level of the McCall City Hall.
Members present were Jodelle Barber, Bill Kirk, Tom Kerr, and Dan Krahn. Staff present was Gary
Shimun. Also present was Scotty Davenport and Tomi Grote of the McCall Parks and Recreation
Committee.
Chairman Kirk outlined some of the areas mentioned for bike paths in earlier meetings. Tom Kerr
submitted a map of the City he prepared that incorporated the current approved bike paths, as well
as suggestions for other routes. The Committee reviewed the suggestions and added some of their
own.
The Committee next moved on to review construction standards.
Kerr moved and Krahn supported to recommend a minimum width of 5 feet for one-way trails, and
6 feet for two-way paths, but with a preference for 8 feet on two -ways whenever possible. The
motion passed unanimously.
Kerr moved and Krahn supported to adopt the trail map as outlined during the meeting as the
recommended route plan for bike paths in the City, and that the map be submitted for review by the
Parks and Recreation Committee prior to submission to City Council. The motion passed
unanimously.
Discussion ensued concerning the need to amend the Subdivision Ordinance to require ble paths in
new subdivisions.
Krahn moved and Kerr supported to recommend to Planning and Zoning that they amend that section
of the Zoning Code dealing with subdivisions to require 'Ace trails along arterial and collector streets,
if such streets are a part of a subdivision. The motion passed unanimously.
There being no other business before the Committee, Kenn moved and Barber supported to adjourn
The motion passed unanimously. The meeting ended at 8:05 p.m
