A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANS- PORTATION OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA TO EXPE- DITE THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROPOSED BRIDGE OVER THE INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY ON SOUTHEAST TWELFTH STREET IN DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, living East of the Intracoastal waterway and all residents of the Town of Highland Beach must cross the In- tracoastal Waterway for most of their shopping and other services, and WHEREAS, there are only two bridges over the Water- way between Boynton Beach, Florida, and Boca Raton, Florida, one being at Atlantic Avenue and one being one mile north thereof at Northeast Eighth Street, and WHEREAS, the present two bridges are not adequate for the present traffic using the same and will be less ad- equate as the population of this area increases, and WHEREAS, a mechanical failure in the Atlantic Avenue Bridge could seriously delay emergency vehicles in reaching the south beach area: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation of the State of Florida be requested to take the necessary steps to expedite the construction of the planned Twelfth Street Bridge in Delray Beach, Florida, to facilitate movement of traffic and enhance the public safety of the residents in this general area.
