Minutes of the Regular Meeting
March 26, 2015
1. Call to order
Chair Martinez called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.
2. Pledge of Allegiance
Commissioner Brown led the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. Roll Call
Commissioners Rowland Becerra, Percy Brown, Arthur Martinez, and Antonio Munguia were
present. Commissioner Jenny Sierra was absent. Staff member Josef Kekula was present.
4. Acknowledgement of Posting
Josef Kekula acknowledged the posting of the agenda.

5. Reorganization.
Commissioner P. Brown nominated Commissioner R. Becerra for Vice Chair and was seconded
by Commissioner A. Munguia.

6. Magnolia Avenue Stop Sign Installation at Bradfield Avenue.
It was moved by Commissioner A. Munguia, seconded by Vice Commissioner R. Becerra, to
approve the item.

Commission Oral Communications
Commissioner Munguia commented on the need to review the need for a left turn arrow at the
intersections of California Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard and California Avenue and
Imperial Hwy.
Commissioner Munguia commented on the need to review the need for red curb at the
intersections of State Street and Minnesota Avenue and State Street and Wisconsin Avenue.
Commissioner Brown commented on the possibility to have one-way streets to address school
area traffic during the drop off and pick up hours around schools.
Commissioner Becerra thanked the Commissioners for his nomination for Vice Chair and
commented on the school traffic issues and the possibility to post on social media.
The Commission discussed the possibility of having a Walk to School Week to encourage
walking and Bike to School Week to encourage bike riding.
Commissioner Brown commented on the lower number of tire donuts and stray dogs.
Commissioner Martinez thanked the Commissioners for his nomination for Chair and
commented that schools use to let groups of students out at 15minute intervals to lessen the
impact of traffic and asked staff to check the pedestrian timing at Imperial Highway and
California Avenue. Commissioner Becerra thanked the Commissioners for his nomination for
Vice Chair and commented on the school traffic issues and the possibility to post on social
media
• The Commission discussed the possibility of prohibiting left turns from westbound Carson
Avenue onto southbound Martin Luther King Boulevard.

It was moved by Commissioner Munguia, seconded by Commissioner Becerra, to adjourn the
meeting at 6:48 p.m.
