Councilmen Logan,Brooks and. Horovitz. IIP The Mayor informed Counci, that he and Colonel Wilson had been in conference relative to gettin a bus for the school chiliren that live on the island nad have to come to Savannah to school end asked that the following res. .lut'on be paased SJ Yr Logan made L motion that it bcr: -)assei which was seconded by Yr. Horovitz and carried; ,- - RESOLUTION WHEREAS, by February there will be 33 children in Savannah Beach eligible to attend, the junior hi2.h schools in Savannah, and. WHEREAS under the existing system only a portion of the transportation expenses are borne by the Board of Education, throwing the remainder of the expense upon the parents of the children, sone of whom are not in position to meet this exiense, thereby depriving their children of an education beyond the sixt grade, provided by the public school of Savannah Beach, and. WHEREAS, it is inimical to public interest that children should be de- neid the opportunity of progressing beyond the sixth grade in public schools because. of the lack of funds for transportation, and. , Whereas, as the Board of Education furnishes buses to and from Wil- mington Island, and to and from various other sections of Chatham County to the junior and senior high schools in Savannah, this facility being denied to the children of Savannah Beach, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Aldermen of the Town of Savannah Beach in behalf of the parents and children of the Town of Savannah Beach that the Board of Education of Chatham County be, and it is hereby requested, to provide a school bus for the children of Savannah Beach, and. BE IT FURTHERMORE RESOLVED that a committee representing this Council and the parents of Savannah Beach request permission to appear before the Board of Education at its next meeting and present the claims of Savannah Beach in this connection. • 190 The bill of goods purci -as :d from the the BrightBrooks Lumber Co., to repair the jetty at Lvell Station having been completed, "r. RESOLUTION RESOLVED BY TIE' MAYOR and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., in regular meeting assembled, that Henry M. Buckley, as Treasurer of said Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., be authorized and directed to make and deliver to the Brights- Brooks Lumber Company a note in the name of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., in the sum of sixteen hundred fifty -three dollars and thirty -four cents ($153.34) dated November 252 1931 and due sixty days (60) after date and bearing interest at the rate of 2% per cent from date and con- taining a provision to pay attorneys fees in the event of default;: said note representing consideration money due the said Bright- Brooks Lumber Company under the terms and provisions of the certain agree-- went made on October 5, 1931, between Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., and the Bright - Brooks Lumber Company, it appearing that the said Bright - Brooks Lumber Company as complied with its contract as contained in said agreement and is now entitled to have and receive the above described note, as provided in said agreement.
