The regular meeting of Council was hel._t to -day at 4,t00 p.m. and was attended by the :Mayor, who presided, and Councilmen _spy, Logan, Brooks and 'Jalthour. 1':-��e ir.c or ca! led a _ tentiLn to Council the expected visit of Gov - enor Russell to the island on Lee's :Birthday ( January 10th), at which time he is to be given an oyster roast, it is planned to make it a =gala event- he said it would probably require about 150 bushels of oysters to take care of the visitors, among other things, and that the Town would furnish t.e oysters. Messrs Cann and McIntyre were appointed a comittee to draft a new contract for the Tybee Watrworks fire pro.ection system, as the contract submitted by the T 'a':';' was not satisfactory. As there was no records to show that resolutions were ever passed designating the several banks in which t e Town deposits its funds, the following re eolution was suggested by Mr. Wialthour, which was seconded by Mr. Horovitz and passed unanamoulsy; RESOLL TIOIT B.] IT R1SOLV D by the ayor and Councilmen of the Town of Sava-.na.h Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, in meeting assembled, and it is resolved by the a.rthjrity of same that the Citizens Bank and Trust Company, and tree Liberty i\ationa.l Bank and Trust Company banking institutions within the City of Savannah, Georgia, be, and they are nereby designated as depositaries for all monies belong -ing to said `Gown of Savannah :?each, Tybee Island, Georgia. Be it further resolved that all officers of said Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, ere instructed and directed to place any monies coning into their hands in either of said banking institutions named in this resolution. The Mayor informed Council that as the semi - annual interest on the paving bonds will be due yebruary first and also that other ex- penditures would have to be taken care of, he asked that Council 193 authorize him to neg6iate and borrow from one of the banks in Savannah 10 the sent not exceed 35000.00 to meet a casual deficiency n. Mr. Horovitt ea made a motion that the Mayor be given the authority to borrow •5000.00 from any bank and upon such terms as he thinks best, Mr. Walthour 74, 0 seconded And the motion was passed; RESOLVED that the Mayor be and. he is hereby authorized and directed, for the oureese of supplying a casual deficiency in revenue now existing, to borrow from such bank or banks of the city of Savannah, Georgia, as may beselected by him,- the sum of Five Thousand (35000.00) Dollars for such time and upon such terms as the 1Jayor shall agree upon and to evidence said by executing in. the name of and on behalf of the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, a note or notes not exceeding in the aggregate the principal sum of Fivelthousand (35000.00) Dollars and that said note or notes shall be excused under the official seal of the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, attested by the Clerk of Council. There being no further business Council adjourned subject to the call of the Mayor. Mayor Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, ait January 21st, 1932. A special meeting of Council was hell today at 4; p. m. and was attended by Mayor Gamble who presided and Councilmen Espy,Cann, and. Logan and the citizens conaittee, consisting of Mr. S. N. Harris, Mr. J. E. Butler, and Yr. J.in. Rogers, also Yr. A. P. Solomon Jr., as representive of the Tybee Waterworks Co. Mr. Rogers said tnat in referring the part of tiie ordinance relating to the new waterworks system that there was a certain clause that would have to be eliminated in as much it would be hard to finance.the project with the clause left in as if without the clause--Mr. Cann said that the T.W.W. CO., has no franchaise with the Town and he objected to giving them the right to assiam the franchaise to some outside concern, he can see no reason why the-franchaisencould be transfered without consent of Council--M. Espy asked if the Town w641d not be protected if the objectional clause were permitted to remain--Mr. Rogers said that the Tybee W.W. Co., should not go into the new project and as a stockholder •he does not want to put in a new W.W. system--Mr. Cann said that he wanted the T.W.W. Co., to have the franchaise but he also wanted the Town protected too, he said that the Town has authority to designate Outside regulation which he thinks would be more severe with the T.W.W. Co., than the regulations of the S. 2. U. Assn.--Yr. Horovitz suggested that as the Town is a customer they can command certain rights--Mr. Rogers said he had never made any money on the T. W. W. stock—Mr. Espy thinks contract is alright--Yr. Solomon Jr.. has tried to comply with
