HomeMy Public PortalAboutRES 71/00r--1 (C 2 c r'M'0 RESOLUTION NO. 0-71 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, URGING THE NAVY DEPARTMENT OF THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE TO RETAIN AUTEC HEADQUARTERS IN WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the Town Commission is advised plans for the removal of AUTEC Headquarters from West Palm Beach, Florida, to a loca outside of Palm Beach County, Florida, are presently under con- sideration by the United States Navy Department, and WHEREAS, the removal of AUTEC Headquarters from the area would have a detrimental economic impact on the West Palm Beach area, as a result of loss of salaries paid by AUTEC to residents of the area together with the loss of purchases of materials and services in the area by AUTEC, and WHEREAS, any time an industry is removed from an area the social and economic stability of the community is affected as families of the employees of such industries are uprooted from participation in community, school and religious affairs, and local retail businesses are immediately affected thereby, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Department of the Navy of the United States Defense Department be and it is hereby urged to retain AUTEC Headquarters in West Palm Beach, Florida. Section 2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be sent to the Secretary of the Navy Department of the United Statef Defense Department, the United States Senators representing the State of Florida, and Congressman Paul G. Rogers, urging them to take such action as they deem advisable to effect the reten- tion of AUTEC Headquarters in West Palm Beach, Florida. l PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS THE 8TH DAY OF J NUARY, 1971 (SEAL) ATTEST-.---%
